RemnantRules
Thanks again for all these! Hopefully we could get 50 or even 100! Here are a few I've thought of: You always have someone to sing with You always have a dancing partner You have a date And you always have someone to go to Mass with! StColette
Having someone think you're absolutely beautiful even when you are throwing up your guts for 9 months because you're carrying life within you. Having that rush of absolute love toward another person when you've just forgiven each other after a fight. Having someone love you for who you are despite all your flaws Someone to carry the laundry basket for you when you are too preggers to carry it yourself Having someone who loves you enough to go out in the rain and get you cold meds so you can sleep.
Or who goes out late in the day, to a pharmacy farther away because it's the only one open, to get your nausea meds for you so you can actually eat a cracker. Oh, and someone who doesn't mind getting into theological discussions at the dinner table.
StColette
How about someone who loves you enough to force you to go to the ER because you've thrown up so much that you're dehydrated

Sternhauser
Why do 30% of these posts involve vomiting? I mean, we're talking about an amelioration of a problem that would not have existed had you stayed single. : ) ~Sternhauser

I mean, we're talking about an amelioration of a problem that would not have existed had you stayed single. : ) ~Sternhauser
When asked after my first pregnancy if I would ever have any more children, my answer was "Of course! why wouldn't I" Being so sick for 9 months that it required 3 medications and 7 trips to the ER was all worth it when I was finally able to hold my newborn son in my arms and be able to share those first moments with my husband. That's something you can't do if you stay single. For me nothing says love like taking care of your sick beloved even though you would much rather be doing something else. That is what I call dying to self. Putting someone else before yourself. Now the second time around, nothing says love like taking care of your sick pregnant wife, your sick 11 month old (including changing all diapers and taking care of night feedings), plus working full-time, and taking care of the house. So, yes had I been single I wouldn't have been puking my guts up for 9 months (now twice in a row since we have baby #2 less than 2 months away), but I also wouldn't have my children. Who are worth every bit of that cross that God has chosen me to carry.

No doubt that a child is worth months of nausea. That was not what I was addressing. ~Sternhauser Edited October 13, 2009 by Sternhauser
I did happen to notice that. Which is why I said, "You're talking about ameliorating a problem which never would have occurred had you remained single." Children are not the problem. Vomiting is. I was pointing out the irony that getting married, indirectly, caused the problem of vomiting. It was not a declaration that the good of childbearing fails to outweigh the evil of nausea. It was the simultaneous juxtaposition of two similar, yet contrary ideas held in the mind. But it only works when the mind is able to juxtapose these contrary ideas, while recognizing their proper places. In other words, it was humor. ~Sternhauser Edited October 13, 2009 by Sternhauser
