I find most appealing the thought of being clothed in virtue.

I found this as an example.
Not only is Mary Queen of Carmel, but also the Beauty and Flower of Carmel, the Flos Carmeli. In Mary's perfect yes, the Church sees itself brought to perfection. Her splendid purity and loving humility adorn the Church in the eyes of her Divine Spouse. So Mary gives her own beauty to the order of Carmel. Carmelites rely on Mary, their Mother, to bestow on them her own virtue and merit. By her scapular, Mary clothes her children in Carmel with her very self.

I love their habits. The hood is especially pleasing to me, and the hard cotton. Very poor and very simple.

It is a hermitage in case anyone was wondering.

I was looking for the blue habited Carmelites (wondered if they were externs) and found this lovely video of Carmelites in Peru. At around 7.45 it is so sweet to see them greet the Archbishop in their monastery, and it is nice to see them receive the host as well (intinction on their knees). I wish I were young and spoke Spanish!

Here's another photo of a 'blue' Carmelite working alongside a brown one! :>p They are from St Joseph's Monastery in Peru (different than the ones in the video I think because there are no blue ones in the video)

I think someone who speaks Spanish might be able to google these ones and see why they wear blue as well as brown?

The Nazarene Discalced Carmelites in Lima, Peru wear a purple habit, It's more of a blue/violet.
I'm thinking the blue habited sisters in the previous pics are a part of this community.

As far as I can tell the purple habits has to do do with the devotion to the 'Lord of Miracles', which is a painting of Christ in Lima. The sisters are the guardians of the mural. Edited by Maximilianus
