She has little power in her own right. A week from now the pundits who used her to attack Limbaugh will have forgotten all about her. But, for millions of Americans, she'll always be that silly sally who wanted the government to buy her pills so she could fulfill her unchecked monstrous libido. However, Miss Fluke accepted public opinion and comment when she chose to become a public voice to her opinion in a natiional forum. Just as Mrs. (and Miss Palin) have chosen to subject themselves to comments by people like Maher, Moore, Limbaugh, Lavin, or Hannity. It is the nature of certain people who have a national podium to spout their opinion to be as abrasive, controversial, and polarizing as possible within the framework of the business plan that provides for their publicity. Of course Limbaugh is more quickly and severely chastised because his business plan gets money from more temperate and sensitive main-stream companies than Maher. [/quote]Accepting an invitation to testify before a congressional panel certainly does turn you into a "public 'voice'". I agree it's not on the same level as Mrs. Palin or Pelosi because we will soon forget about her, as we generally forgot about Rodney King and Bob the "Plumber". It's within anybody's rights to make judgements on anybody's character and motives when speaking in a public forum, whether it's here at Phatmass, or at a public Congressional panel. It's a matter of manners to consider how powerful your voice is and the tone you voice your opinion. It's one thing for you to state you think I'm an idiot, but another for Bill O'Riley to to call me an idiot for this same post on his TV show. To insist that government or our employers must subsidize our sexual habits and behavior makes us officially the most selfish, lazy, immature, and embarrassing society America has ever seen. Not to mention the most hypocritical. We demand the government stay out of our bedrooms while also demanding the government pay for our contraception. These modern "feminists" like Fluke will shout, "My body, my choice" and "stay out of my uterus" and most of all, "the Church has no right to tell me what ... to do with my body!" But now she is demanding that same government, that same Church must relieve her of the cost and responsibility for her own personal choices and bear the burden themselves.
