you're going to spend over an hour at the air port waiting for her? :o

so excited for you guys! you might want to tell Cat to call/text someone in the States when she lands to see if her phone still works. Even though we were pretty close to the boarder, Nick's phone didn't work....and i want pictures  lol

Well, no. It takes half an hour or so to get to the end of the west line on the metro, and then I gotta wait for her to get through customs. Hah. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

It was on. Hahaha. I needed to know when she landed and off the plane. She apparently had a French Canadien check her in. He wouldn't believe my apartment building number or something. Seemed sceptical I guess, or maybe it's just the French accent (it happens to be 666... how about that, eh? We don't even have a 13th floor. It's marked 14. Redundancy). But she got through fine. Got her to Dudette's place at 1:30. We left the airport at 12. I got home after 2. I'm still up finishing an essay so I don't have to hard-core on it before I hand it in Friday. I'll just do most of the work and look over it tomorrow. Get her advice.

 What an experience! I really went out of my comfort zone going to the Pearson airport by myself without having ever been there. Took the transit. Hah. When we got on the bus, I'd forgotten to give the tickets for the fare. The bus driver came up and said "fair?" then walked back to his seat. All I said was "sorry" and promptly dropped my proofs of purchase into the change thing. He didn't seem upset. I was too distracted... hah. Not the first time I mindlessly did something like that. Oh, and we prayed the office on the subway. That was fun. Can't wait til tomorrow. Going to be busy. Almost too busy.

1/2 cup olive oil, (not virgin olive oil if you can avoid it, but if it is what you have, use it)
1 stick butter
at least 5 cloves of garlic minced ( i use 10)

Throw these three in a pot and saute over medium heat for 5 minutes.

after 5 minutes, add this in:

1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
1/2 to 1 teaspoon of ground oregano
1/2 to 1 teaspoon of basil
1 teaspoon to one tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
little salt
some pepper (preferably white pepper)
1 cup clam juice from 2-4 cans minced and 2-3 cans chopped clams (the tuna fish sized cans, they have a yellow label)

simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally

then, drain clams of ALL juice (do not wash), and add the drained clams to the sauce. Cook for 15-20 minutes.

A good rule of thumb is to have your water boiling by the time you add the clams. After you add the clams, add the pasta in the water. When the pasta is done, you are good to go on the sauce.

The sauce is kinda a family recipe, so lots of the ingredients are approximated. I like lots of garlic, lots of clams, heavy oregano and crushed red pepper flakes, and easy basil, easy salt, and heavier pepper. just depends on what you like.

serve with italian bread. You could do garlic bread, but i like to use the bread, plain, to soak up the sauce.

a nice ceasar would go nicely.

enjoy
