[/quote] Personal preference. Muslim is closer to the arabic. Although some cringe at Moslem because when Americans say it, it sounds like a different word.

I know some women in the Caucasus basically pull their hair back and put on a kerchief, looking kind of Sephardic. A lot of women in Indonesia wear a big piece of material that covers their head and shoulders. Some in the Levant wear what looks like a skullcap and tube combo, and I've seen pictures of Persian women with long scarves over their head but showing some hear, like bangs. What (or who) determines the style? Is it a regional thing? I'm curious because some look more functional than others. Again, I'm not debating the validity or non-validity. Just curious.
