I will enter as an aspirant in a couple of weeks. I leave for the convent on Jan 13 ,2011.....AHHHH. I don't even have time to think about it haha which is a good thing b/c I like to analyze things a little too much! I have only been here for a couple of months but it has been fun hanging out here on VS! I ask for your prayers Pham as I haven't told me parents yet...waiting till after new years . It is such a great blessing to even be able to go try out this beautiful way of life. Anyway Im in Our Lady's hands, God's will be done!!!
I am filled with a holy envy! I am so happy for you! Edited December 31, 2010 by tnavarro61

Alicia and Sr. Consolatrice are sweeties. One thing's for sure, you'll have lots of fun there. Last I was there, they were building rooms in the basement level, yet there was still space to play running games. Did you get to run around or are they now walled up? CONGRATULATIONS!!
Klaudi87 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010
Have you mentioned anything to them as of yet? Did they know you were discerning?
Yes they definetly suspect something and knew about my visits to the convents but I don't think they realize how soon I will be entering lol
Klaudi87 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010
WONDERFUL!!!! That truly is amazing news! I was in contact with Sr. Maria Consolatrice and seriously considered visiting there even if I didn't have a Franciscan vocation, but the airline that I could afford to take (AirTran) doesn't go anywhere near New Bedford so I didn't know how I'd get there. I opted to visit the CFR Sisters instead. Sr. M.C. is very nice! I hope you have a wonderful time there and that you have found your permanent earthly home. I'll be praying for you so that when you tell your parents, they will be very supportive. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!
Thanks! Yep she is super nice! I hope I found my premanent earthly home too! I have met some of the CFR sisters, they are very nice. A good friend of mine is a CFR friar he's great too! They all are!
Thank you! Indeed they are sweet! We did some running around in the library at recreation...we played a game similar to dodge ball but using a bean bag. If by the basement level you mean where the refractory and kitchen are then yes they built some rooms....in a big empty room next to the kitchen they put up what look like bedsheets (as walls) for the aspirant cells. Very Franciscan!
Chiquitunga Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Congratulations, Klaudi!! This is so wonderful to hear!!! I love these Sisters!!!
krissylou Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Two WEEKS? Wow! So is this aspirancy like a "live-in" where you go for a length of time and then come back home and decide whether you want to enter as a postulant? How long is the aspirancy? Or is the one supposed to flow right into the next stage? Congratulations, good luck, and blessings!
tnavarro61 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 yes, i am interested to know what an aspirancy is (with FIs) and how long does it lasts. :D

I just found out about it 2days ago im still in shock haha.Yes as an aspirant you get to live with the sisters and all but no you never get to visit your family again unless of coarse its not for you and you decide to leave. You are allowed to write and recieve phone calls maybe even visits (though im not sure how that works) but you never get to go home. Aspirancy for the sisters varies. It's kind of a case by case depending on the maturity and things like that since the rest of the formation (at leat postulancy and noviceship) will be in Italy. For example one of the aspirants has been there for about a year and the other one about half a year. Sr. Maria Consolatrice shared she only did 4 months of aspirancy so it just depends.

Also for the males they do have formation houses here in the states so they don't get sent to Italy right away. I think the aspirants enter in september and become postulants on the feast of the Immaculate Conception. This is all in America though so im not sure how that differs in the Philippines.

TeresaBenedicta Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 12 days until my visit with the SSVMs!!! :-D I'm super excited, of course. It's going to be tough to leave them. But it's a good thing I get to see all of my college buddies immediately thereafter, rather than flying home again. Dear God... three years is far too long to wait... think you can do something about that? Much appreciated. I'll do this for the rest of my life:
ENTER NOW

Haha clicking the spoiler button was like opening up a big present wrapped in sparkly wrapping paper and then seeing what was in it was like receiving the greatest gift in the world, yet not knowing what the gift is...I've got the discernment blues.. Anyways. I'll definitely be going on the DSMME retreat in February. Should have the money to pay for the flights soon, but hopefully the prices don't go up..which I'm sure they will.
LadyOfSorrows Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 and I think for TB, it's being able to see what's in the box but not being able to open it..
