In The Arms of The Lord

Praised be Jesus Christ!

Today I received in the mail the acceptance letter to enter The Discalced Carmelite Monastery of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph in Elysbrurg, PA. I was very anxious to receive this, and now it is here! At times I sense so deeply within me, that this is what's left for me. I know I desire this so much, and I trust that if this is where I am to be, then His grace will provide. Please pray that I remain faithful and persevering to all that Our Lord is asking.

Along with the acceptance letter, I also received a list of what I need to bring with me and a letter for my family about contacting me. I had a question about one of the books that I need to purchase; it's called "Liber Usualis" and i'm asked to get the 1962 edition. It is a book of Gregorian Chant for the Traditional Latin Mass. I was able to find one at Angelus Press for $95.00. It's the cheapest one I could find, elsewhere it was a lot more, and I wasn't able to find this book really anywhere else online except for there and Amazon. Amazon had a couple of options, but that is where it was so much. If I was buying it myself, I probably wouldn't think anything of the price; but my parents are buying all the items for me. Does anyone know of where I may find this book to purchase? Thank you!

Edited to add: I also found the Liber Usualis at this Parish website http://www.cantius.org/go ... any suggestions?

Praise God!!! :clapping: This is all very exciting!!!

(I don't have answers either, I'm afraid... Oooh, maybe send Fr. Z from What Does the Prayer Really Say? an e-mail and he might respond on his blog. He knows all sorts of stuffs about the Traditional Latin Mass and accessories.)

Thank you both so much! His mercy and love has been so much through my journey....

and thank you TeresaBenedicta for that website. Angelus Press, one website where I found it, says it began as an apostolate of the Society of St. Pius X to promote Catholic literature; but it says also that it aims to promote the immemorial Traditions of the Catholic Faith and the Tridentine Rite of the Mass with an unswerving commitment to orthodoxy and the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. It seems that it would be ok to purchase here, and it is also the cheapest one I could find.

Congrats - I am jealous. There, I said it - very uncharitable to be jealous - but I am. I am also so happy you found just the right place and am so longing to find the community that's right for me. Many prayers that this is truly where God wants you to be and that you are very happy there!

Congratulations!!! Wonderful news!! :nun1: the countdown begins to your entrance ..

For the Liber, we have an old one a priest gave my brother for free :priest: It is a really thick heavy book, loaded with, as far as I know, all the chant you'll ever need for the Traditional Latin Mass :harp:

So I'm not surprised the new ones are this expensive. I think the only new edition is the one published by Angelus Press. But keep in mind, as they are the publishing house for the SSPX, they are not in complete obedience to the Magisterium, despite what it says on their site. But here's a comment I made in an old thread, that puts things in perspective. St. John Cantius (I go there when I can .. It's beautiful!) also sells the Angelus Press Liber (as far I as I can tell .. I think this is the Angelus Press one) So I would buy it from them, the Canons of the St. John Cantius, who are in complete obedience to the Church, rather than directly from Angelus Press personally, although it's $4 more, http://www.cantius.org/go/webstore/product/1962_liber_usualis/

That is probably why Mother is recommending the Daily Missal from Baronius Press though, rather than the Angelus one .. but also because it's the one used by the FSSP. And yes, that's the right one. You can buy it directly from them too here, http://www.fraternitypublications.com/the-1962-daily-mi.html If you do, maybe when you order it there will be a place where you can write additional notes, and you can say you're entering the Carmel in Elysburg .. and they'll say an extra prayer for you!
