vee Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) Random New Years musings. At the start of each year I always wonder what the upcoming year will hold. Looking back at 2010 I never ever ... EVER imagined what the past twelve months would have been like. If someone had said to me Id spend three weeks with hermit nuns I would have looked at them like this and if taht person had also said that same time would be in the company of the likes of Sister Indwelling Elizabeth of the GET OFF THE INTERNET I would have hit them with a chair! If she is reading this she is probably saying to herself that if she had known she'd have to spend time with the likes of me she would have hit herself with the chair! ahahahahhaa! Im so blessed that Ive gotten to know Sister Indwelling Elizabeth as well as so many other phatmassers, some of who are still here and some who have gone off to teh convent. I tried to stay distant when I first joined phatmass but that has obviously failed... and Im glad it did! Youve prayed for me, taught me, made me laugh, and DS has given me a concussion Im thankful for most of those things... most but not all! So heres to an incredible 2010 and and a blessed and wonderful 2011 for each of you! Edited to add As much as I like phatmass and all its inhabitants I really hope next (and all subsequent) New Years Eve Im in teh convent!!!! If its God's will of course. Did you tell Sr Mary Catherine how you were particularly attracted to their community because of the blog post about Canadian postulants, visa issues, and veils nearly catching on fire?

[/quote] Yeah, Sister Indwelling Elizabeth would tell me "I dont see you as a Dominican" but I think that was just due to her lack of imagination and/or her tendency to be wrong! I did not mention that blog post to them as this was initial contact but I will keep it in mind as a possible question like :"do you have a max number of Canadian postulants you permit to enter due to their propensity to practically set their veil on fire???"

Due to narrow aisles among lit candles, the NOVICE MISTRESS said that SHE nearly set her OWN veil on fire. HOME SWEET HOME FOR VEE!

vee Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I had been doing a novena to St Therese and in prayer I learned that she didnt give me roses, she gave me the thorns. I left the intention open again not asking for anything for myself except what God wanted. I got the thorns, the nails, and the cross the most precious things He can give.

Ive finally become small enough for her to pick up, to hold and to teach. I wasnt letting her before because I wanted to walk on my own and to stay a safe distance away. Thats not Therese though because she was very affectionate in life so "safe distances" arent her thing. She had to knock me flat on my back with a fever to teach me that though. Speaking of being under the weather there are three Carmels that have very likely received the letters I sent to them. Letters which contain my phone number and I really pray they dont call right now! I sound terrible and my brain functions are even worse.
