I will just pray I end up somewhere that already has a Sister Therese, which wont be hard because most places already do, and can thus avoid having her name! So there! Id also be fine with a place that lets me choose my own name since Ive already picked that out that as well and it has nothing to do with any Teresa.

I am a big fan of the saints that carry the Teresa series of names, but it's gotten to be a bit ubiquitous. Vee's name should be Sister Edburgha Hildegard Bertheid Lioba Abra. Sister Eddy for short.

And I thought 'Sr. Miriam' was a good way to by-pass the understandably common 'Sr. Mary'

Though you don't always know what will be there already. My sister thought for sure that when joining a Polish order, 'Sr. Faustina' would be taken. It wasn't In her case, they asked her to submit two choices she liked, and then they would assign her a name. I suppose if they didn't like the choices, they could just pick whatever they wanted, but she got her first choice.

There are many awesome saints named Therese, of course, but I would have no desire to carry her name. If I ever had the opportunity to, I might name a daughter after St. Clare.

Lots of goodies and reading material for example; two newsletters spring and fall, a whole assortment of vocational pamphlets, some (7) lovely postcards, and a book titled Fast-Knit to Christ Dominican Contemplative Nuns A Radical Answer to Radical Love which is a collection of essays.

FYI, they make really good soap. And they, in typically nunly fashion (or as it seems all nuns do) sent a couple of little pamphlets with the soaps I ordered.

I have ordered soaps from the Summit Dominicans several times, and got some vocational materials each time, as well as their newsletter, and a postcard with a picture of the community saying "Thank-you." As time has gone on, I have sent them short notes with my orders, and with my last order, I told them a bit of my situation and asked for the community's prayers.

I got in return with my soap order two really good meditations to use in saying the Rosary. (I had said in my email, that, despite not being a Catholic, I had begun to say the Rosary.) I also got a lovely email of support and an offering of help, if I wanted it, in finding a spiritual director in Chicago. They were genuinely wanting to help, even from several states away, which felt very good.

All I can do is His will Sister and it is His will that I window shop right now. All the stores look wonderful because God created them and I want some of what each store has. I walk past, stop, and say ooh that looks nice but all seem lacking after a time. Only one seems to have really captured me because its little employee stole my heart. St Therese dragged me into her shop, ripped it out, and kept it. Im not getting it back either. Im getting this one but where and when I dont know. Maybe Therese needs some encouragement to tell me! Yes I want, I long for, His heart and His cross and if He doesnt want me beating up His saints He can stop making me wait!!!! In the meantime Therese

Well in my very, very little and humble opinion, you sound like a Carmelite to me.

Have you looked into the Carmel of St. Therese of Lisieux in Loretto, PA? I live a couple of hours from there and really love it. I try to go every now and then to soak up some of the presence in the chapel. St. Therese is definitely there. The last time I went to Mass I noticed a new postulant, and I heard someone from my diocese is discerning with them.

I see you've experienced some of Therese's tenaciousness! I've actually told her before to leave me alone for a bit because she is so PRESENT sometimes. Not sure what it is, but my theory is that it has something to do with her words to Celine. Celine asked her if she would watch over her from heaven and T said, "No, I'll come down!" Whereas other saints pray for us from heaven-- somehow it seems that T comes much closer. ????
