Mary's Margaret

Yesterday, on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the Queenship of Mary Community was established as a private association of Christian faithful and received their habits. Four women professed their temporary vows and the fifth is a novice.
This picture was taken in the Archbishop's chapel in Notre Dame Cathedral, Ottawa, Canada

Unfortunately, I had to take the photo off this post as it wouldn't accept it. (I got a message saying something about the "image extension is not allowed on this community") However, you can see pictures on the Archbishop's blog here http://archbishopterry.blogspot.ca/

That church is crazy! Imagine accidentally knocking a piece off one of the statues!

I think this is lovely just as a photograph. What a remarkable face! On the habit side of things, it's interesting to me how this nun, a Greek Catholic (so, worshipping like Orthodox but under Rome), shows both your thing of having an uncovered neck, and our thing of a tall hat. It seems to have been incorporated into a modern Latin veil. It's strange that it's being worn outside of church. And it's tilted forward - I wonder how it stays on?

I never stop being amazed at human inventiveness :)

Would you be able to confirm, by the look of the pictures, that the sisters wear an "updated" veil for normal occasions, and then switch to the traditional veil for jubilees, funerals (buried in your habit) and such? - That seems to be what the wonderful pictures show

That used to be the case. But it is harder for the younger sisters to get into the old habit so now it is just modified veil the whole time. And I think they are buried in their habit, whichever habit they were invested into. But, yes. The pictures are wonderful.
