[/quote] A priest friend of mine called and said that their parish has a car that their nun used to use... but that it's been sitting in the garage without use for a while now. So they're having a mechanic take a look at the car to make sure it's in good shape to use and, if so, they're going to sell it to me for a rather discounted price. Praise God!

Could you imagine 3,000+ miles in the heat wave that has hit the country? Oy!
LaPetiteSoeur Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 My daddy and I drove half way across the country. It was a very, um, interesting experience. Though I'm glad I wasn't with my mama--she and a friend got to drive four cats that distance! It's great that you get to fly!

TeresaBenedicta Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 One week until I fly out. I just had my last day of work today... I can't believe I'm leaving. My parishioners have been so wonderful to me... I'm truly humbled. Last night my evening Bible study surprised me with a homemade dinner at one of their houses. We all ate, laughed, and enjoyed each other's company for a few hours. Such a blessing. Tomorrow is major clean out my room day. Then on Friday I head to the coast with my parents and my brother and his family for a mini camping trip. THEN it'll be two and a half days to pack and be off!! I have to admit that I'm overwhelmed. By how much I need to do... but mostly I'm scared. I'm scared to give [i]everything[/i]. I [i]want[/i] to give everything... but it terrifies me. Illogical? Maybe.

Perfectly normal. If you weren't nervous, you don't realize the importance of the step you're taking. You obviously have great gifts, which have been recognized by your parish, and I predict that you will do very well. And you will now be able to discern much more successfully what you want to do in the future.

Well, let's storm Heaven for more grace for this little one, because it's getting difficult, to be sure!
TeresaBenedicta Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 God is good! I'm feeling a lot less overwhelmed now... I was able to get through a good portion of my room, which included sending off nine big black bags and two boxes of "stuff" to the goodwill. My mom laughed at me and said that in my next life (joking) I'll go through my stuff at the end of each "big step"... meaning, going into high school, going off to college, etc. I literally hadn't been through my room since I was 8 years old. Now we're going on a short camping trip, Fri-Sun. My parents and I are leaving in about an or hour so, and my brother and his family (wife, 2 nephews, and a niece) will be joining us later in the day. We'll also be about fifteen minutes from the coast! It's going to be a nice weekend- a perfect way to spend time with the family before I go. Then I have Monday and Tuesday to finish getting my stuff put together... and I leave on Wednesday!! Still haven't heard back from Father about the car, but I'm not going to worry too much. I'm sure it's still be checked by the mechanic. He seems pretty intent in making sure I get something. Aaaaaand then I just need to call the convent again sometime next week when we figure out exactly what time we plan to head over. I'm also going to ask if my best friend can stay the night- she living about 7 hours away and came down to pick me up from the airport and hang out for two days prior. I think they'll be more than willing to give her a place to stay for the night before she head back home. And just because I had to use this smiley See y'all on Sunday evening! (Also: Say a little prayer that we get back in time for me to make the Sunday evening Mass. I'm almost certain we will- we have to be out of the campsite by 11AM and we're only two hours away... but you never know what sorts of random stops/trips parents like to make!)
