Angels of the Streets. A French movie with English subtitles. :) (From what I understand, a Dominican priest was available for consultation during filming, hence you will see many Dominican customs including the venia.)

Rich, young Ann-Marie thinks she has found her vocation when she joins the Dominicans of Bethanie. The convent specialises in rehabilitating female prisoners, and Anne-Marie becomes especially fascinated with Therese, trying to get her to join the convent to redeem her for her sins - but Therese protests her innocence...

I won't tell what happens next...but please enjoy!

:) It is most definitely a movie of the 1940's, but I have enjoyed watching it & I am glad others are enjoying it too. What I do find funny is that they chant the Salve at different times, almost as if the actresses only had time to learn that one chant! :hehe:

By the way:
Les Anges Du Peche literally means The Angels of Sin.
This was more or less the first feature film for this director, and he was kind of hired in order to collaborate with several writers/producers.
It interests me somewhat, that after this project, the director pretty much insisted on doing everything himself -- his other films are totally his babies, he does the producing, the writing, the casting, and so on.
So much so that this film is considered atypical for him.

No kidding! I wondered about the translation since I would see, "O Mary conçu sans péché, priez pour nous qui ont recours à vous" on my one miraculous medals that I had from Switzerland. Thanks sistersintigo. :)
