Okay... now it makes sense why everyone is happy that he died... I don't post when I don't really know what ya'll are talking about because that's not right. Thanks! :)

I'll certainly pray for the repose of his soul...

That's North Korea TV. Very hard to tell what is real and what is not.

I believe the grief may just be real. I just think that they are so taken and enamored with him because of probable brainwashing.

That answered my question. :)

Let's just pray that everyone in America doesn't become that brainwashed...

I was gonna say that but I didn't want to get kicked off of PM... you don't see me speak my mind that much on here because I don't want to get in trouble.

You don't like Rush Ds?

like isn't the word... the man amuses me...

...but back to the topic:

Kim Jong-Il was one of Hennessy's best customers... and I read somewhere he loved to smoke.. probably what led to his demise... (not the hennessy, but the smokes..) 69 is a fairly "young" age to die now a days...

I'd say it couldn't get worse, but then...that's never a good thing to say. I think his son (heir) has been in charge for the last few years anyway, more or less. So...it's possible that nothing will change.

Agreed. "Dear Leader" was himself heir to the original "Great Leader" Kim Il-Sung. It's a Communist dictatorship perpetuated by dynasty. We can pray that the next "Dear Leader" will be less oppressive, or be overthrown by someone better, but it's not like Kim Jong-Il's death means North Korea's problems are over by any means.

Indeed. As I understand, his son is worse. Def. a place and people that need prayer.

Nobody knows that. China is a libertarian paradise compared to North Korea and the inner workings of their politboro is pretty opaque. North Korea is far, far worse and our knowledge of their elite is far more diminished. They aren't even sure how old this kid is. You're going to hear a lot of speculation but all the things I'm reading from people who would actually know all say that they know next to nothing about who this person is or what he wants. I think they have a general idea that he's in his late 20's and that he received some childhood education in Switzerland. And I don't think they know much more than that.

The chances of any sort of organized resistance or revolution requires some sort of civil society, something North Korea, as best as anyone can figure, utterly lacks. Egypt's sucessfull(ish) revolution was preceded by the Bush administration's nearly decade long effort (more or less at different times) of pushing Mubarak to give a bit more room to the Egyptian civil society (prior to that it really only existed in the Mosques which is how we got the Muslim Brotherhood) and Obama using our leverage on the Egyptian military, built up over the decades, to help prevent a slaughter.

There's little doubt that Kim was deranged but it's hard to know which of the more insane claims originate from North Korea and which originated with South Korea's intelligence agencies

All I know about Kim Jong Il is that there are lots of pictures of him staring at sausages. He seeme to be very enamored of sausages.

He also liked to look at cheeze.

Just look at that smile!

EDIT: Also, nearly every official picture of him has him wearing that exact coat, and those exact sunglasses. No seriously. HE NEVER CHANGED HIS OUTFIT AFTER THE 70s.
