Found out I will be visiting the Roswell Poor Clares to meet the community and learn of my (hopeful) acceptance on September 12-14, the 14th being the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, AKA Saint Francis' sacred stigmata! Please pray for me.

What happy news...and lovely timing for your visit. I pray everything goes according to His perfect plan.

Lovely video from the Cleveland PCCs that I received from Chiara Francesco. I really enjoyed this rare look into their life!

Please forgive the low volume and the menu you can occasionally see at the bottom. My 'DVD to VS' operation had many kinks. :)

Thanks Emma, I've had this video for awhile on VHS I got from a friend and then copied it to DVD but I never knew how to up load it to the computer to help others to discern with this community!

This was shown on EWTN in the mid 90s and was first copied to a VHS and then in the mid 2000s I copied to DVD so that is why the first few seconds looks so bad! Old VHS tape.

**Also, if anyone notices, the narrator of this tape IS Sr. ? Grace? (forget her name!), the nun with the English accent in Mother Angelica's PCPA order in Birmingham who does the voice for "For those who can not now received Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, we offer the following prayer..." on all the EWTN masses on TV. I used to know her name but it's eluding me at the moment!**

It's funny when I visited them back in the mid 2000s, I told them about this video on EWTN and how I had seen it and copied it. Mother Abbess and the sisters told me how funny it was to make it as the director (or whoever!) wanted to just go and spontaneously start doing things: like "Go clean or dust!" even though that had been done earlier in the day so they felt silly doing things! Also, what isn't audible it seems is during the scene of the sisters doing the altar bread baking, when the lid pops up by itself, the camera man says something like "whoa!" and it's funny to hear a male voice in the monastery! Then the scene with the sisters gardening with their hoes, that too had been done so they didn't want to mess what they did so they "pretended to garden!". They told me other funny stories and examples but too long to recount new.

 I wondered why they weren't doing much in the 'gardening' scenes...from what I hear, Poor Clares (and all contemplatives for that matter) are VERY efficient in their gardens! I might hear the man voice whisper, "woah!" very very softly, but maybe not.

Yes, maybe some Poor Clare hopefuls will see this and be directed to the Cleveland monastery!

I was wondering who in the Cleveland house had a British accent....that clears it up!

PS: Please forgive me for the blank post above me. It's a long story.[/background]

Emma, I can hear it on my DVD copy but unless the copy I sent you has diminshed sound, you should be able to hear it pretty well. If not, turn up the volume.

The nuns said it was hard to ignore the people and camera man and not look at them! They said they were some what self-conscious!

Yes they are about from that time. When I was visiting them and said I seen these photos, Mother Abbess said they were originally taken to be put into a website they wanted to do. For some reason the website was never made then. The present website they have now is from 2009 or 2010, the last update was 2010 and it wasn't much before this the website was created.

The few years I discerned with them, they had no website and all was done by regular mail but I think it still is today as even t hough they have a website, they don't use email - which I like and didn't mind! Also by this way, they sent me wonderful things in their big envelopes to me!, like older or new articles on them from local papers, booklets on their life, etc.

Has anyone seen this Vocation video? I found it really beautiful and touching. I believe she entered the Poor Clares in Rosewell this Summer.

Yep, saw this one too & shared it with emmaberry, but it never was posted on the phorum yet I don't think! It should be in Emmaberry's thread too!! since it's an especially PCCs thread :)
