Just read the horror stories from former porn stars and it shows they had to do drugs and/or alcohol to escape the pain. Most were sexually abused and/or not loved by their fathers growing up.

Right, because being sexually abused, doing drugs and/or "do[ing] alcohol to escape the pain" necessarily leads one right into the open arms (or legs) of the porn industry.

It was the porn industry that abused them, and such abuse caused them to lean on drugs and alcohol. When you read the testimonies of former porn models, you can get a bit of insight into actually how abusive the industry can be.

As for the article:

I can make many arguments against the porn industry, and this article does nothing to despute any of them.

In no way does basing a person's self worth on their sex appeal help raise "self esteem." It only works to degrade the persons dignity as a person created in the image and likness of God, a God who loves them abundantly.

They might not realize it. Momentary disires, passions, and pleasures can sometimes mask what is and isnt good for us. They can sometimes mask the truth. It's why so many people, who know in some way that pornography is wrong, can still become or stay addicted to it.

Been there, done that. It ain't good.

Prayers for these people.

What else is a self-promoting organization like the “Journal of Sex Research by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation” An organization or entity whose sole purpose is promoting its own existence and splendor, going to say?

I find the story rather hard to swallow (no pun intended).

Yeah people at least be consistent. If you can trust the words of some porn stars who say their life smells of elderberries, then by the same measure you should trust the ones who say it doesnt.

unless you actually believe that porn stars are only lying when their experience doesnt match up with what you have in mind.

Much more accurate than your first outburst.

I did like the acting in the movie you were in.

You can make studies say whatever you want if you're smart enough about it.

Or if you're charming.

In some sense, there's truth here ... there's a certain confidence and excitement that comes with knowing you're wanted and desirable, etc.

It's misguided, yes, and very far from what actual self-worth entails, but twisted self-esteem is still self-esteem.
