mamalove Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I think it is now between those two. (Although my husband still really wants to name him Toby Keith.) I think we have also chosen Simeon for the middle name. I'm due on Valentine's Day, but since it will probably ba a c-section and he is a big boy, I'm going to see if they will be ready to take him out on the Feast of the Presentation (Feb. 2) I feel a very strong devotion to St. John the Apostle because he was there with Our Mother during the Passion of our Lord and would like to honor him by naming our child after him. On the other hand, I know my Daddy would just be proud as a peacock if we named him after his grandpa. It would really mean a lot to him and he also isn't the healthiest of people. I could use one name as a first name and one as a middle name, but would like to keep one open for another future boy name. We've kinda developed a pattern.
Thy Geekdom Come Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 James...make your father happy first and if God graces you with another boy, name him John, which will honor John. If God intends the for St. John to be honored through your son's name, then He'll probably give you another son, since you'd be naming him James out of a loving action and not one to spurn the name John. I also like the name James better...it's my middle name (as far as the Church is concerned...long story...)
Theoketos Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 His name is James, after your father, and the lesser Apostle, so the Child will both; grow in humility and share my name, as far as the Church is concerned (short story)
StColette Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 *speaks out against the umm masses lol* name him John lol John who was entrusted with the care of Our Lady by Christ Himself
heyyoimjohnny Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 My Patron is St. John the Apostle. Guess how I voted...

Duc_In_Altum Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 I'd choose john if i had to from the two. I think joseph is a spin name too. That is, if you're goin for the whole "j" thing. I mean, come on, her most chaste spouse?! Don't get much better than that. -Joe (a little biased)
Piccoli Fiori JMJ Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Amazing how we get advice from fellow phatmassers for the important things!

IcePrincessKRS Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 I voted James. It would mean alot to your dad, and from the things you've said about family "planning" I'm sure another lil'one is in your future. I think that maybe, since your dad isn't in the greatest of health, it would be a special gift for him--I mean, not to sound morbid, but if you named this one John and, God forbid, something happened and your dad was never able to meet his namesake... that would be sad.
