Lil Red Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 i wonder how the celebrities who follow this will take this? since they're all about "tolerance" (i hate that phrase)
Paladin D Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Tom Cruise and John Travolta are Christian Scientists.
Unfortunately many Protestants view homosexuals in a very (if not an identical) way.
Oik Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Homosexuality is an illness. However, this article is extremely fanatical and terrible.
Dave Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004
Tom Cruise and John Travolta are Christian Scientists.
No, they're Scientologists. Christian Science and Scientology aren't the same thing. And just for the record, they both used to be Catholic. Heck, Cruise even considered the priesthood!
homeschoolmom Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 This is horrible...
gays can be "dispose[d] of . . .quietly and without sorrow
Don John of Austria Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Okay guys you aren't really shocked by this are you, Scientologists are EVIL guys, haven't ya'll been paying attention for say YOUR ENTIRE LIFE! I mean read a little about the religion it is Evil, why would this attitude suprise you.
cmotherofpirl Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 (edited) That is disgusting. Are you sure that is what they really believe? You think it would wipe the Church scandal off the wires forever. Edited December 12, 2004 by cmotherofpirl
hyperdulia again Posted December 12, 2004 Author Posted December 12, 2004
You think it would wipe the Church scandal off the wires forever.
That s exactly what Jon said. I'm trying to find aterials from CoS itself, but I cannot.
p0lar_bear Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 People have died under their "treatments" (the case I heard about wasn't for homosexuality) and there is no scandal. There will not be a scandal. Why? The majority of the important people in Hollywood are Scientologists. Even those who aren't Scientologists know that their careers depend to some degree on Scientologists. Nobody's going to broadcast things that are going to get them blacklisted. BTW, hi Hyper, good to see you.
IcePrincessKRS Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004
That is disgusting. Are you sure that is what they really believe? Kilroy the Ninja Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 I'll have to do some research into the Scientology books I've got sitting around here (always know your enemy!) but I'm pretty sure that the article is accurate. Funny thing too, most actors and actresses fall at 3.0 on the "tonal" scale and stay there for a really long time before they move up. And the way you move up is to take "classes" in dianetics and of course those "classes" cost vast amounts of money. They string theses hapless souls along bilking them of money and making them believe they're making progress - I don't think any of them ever reach 4.0, and if they do, they're not there for long. It wouldn't shock me to know that L.Ron Hubbard is laughing somewhere right now. The man wrote some decent sci-fi - modern religion wasn't that much of a stretch.
BeenaBobba Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 That's horrible! Firstly, there's a distinction between the behavior and the person, and it doesn't seem like the "Church" of Scientology has made that distinction. Secondly, homosexuality isn't contagious. Thirdly, I think it's wrong that Scientology will shun these people "without sorrow" if its "treament" doesn't work. In Christianity, we want everyone to be saved. God bless, Jen

Socrates Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Mr. Hubbard founded Scientology after making a bet that "anyone can start his own religion." (He obviously won his bet.) Scientology's a money-making scam, and is thus a hollywood status symbol (because you need dough to afford this "faith"). Hubbard proves Barnum right - "there's a sucker born every minute!"
