Stceciliapray4us Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 I think the fact that one of the most successful comedy movies EVER is rated PG!!!!! That should make all Catholics appreciate this movie. Take all 9 of your kids to see it !!! and dont worry its not bad !!!! This movie proved that to be funny you dont have to be vulgar or have overly sexual content in it. This is the most ORIGINAL movie that has come out in years. BRILLIANT....absolutely BRILLIANT. ROYAL TANNENBAUMS and LIFE AQUATIC are also amazing movies that are COMPLETELY original. A whole new breed of comedy is starting in Hollywood. (but dont take all 9 of your kids to see these ones...) "hey Napolean what did you do last summer?" "I told you! I was with my Uncle hunting wolverines in Alaska!" "I have all your carp in my locker" "6 dollars? thats like a dollar an hour?!"
jp2_rules Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005
I see you're drinking 1% milk. Is that because you think you're fat? Because you're not. You could probably be drinking whole milk.
the day after i saw the movie, i actually said that to a friend on IM. it was perfect to what we were talking about, and she thought it was really funny. the movie was very pointless, but i loved it. and, i'm pretty proud of my rex and napoleon impersonations.... -_-

I was with my Uncle hunting wolverines in Alaska!"
Did you shoot any? Yes, like 50 of 'em! They kept trying to attack my cousins, what the heck would you do in a situation like that? What kind of gun did you use? A freakin' 12-gauge, what do you think?
littleflower+JMJ Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 lol i think it was hilarious if you could relate to the underdog that napolean was lol or that your family was identical to pedro's lol to the T too lol so i related to both the underdog and mexican  and that just made it so hilarous..
LOL! SO TRUE!!!! Especially about the part about possibly putting the statues in the school !!! :rotfl:
melporcristo Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 the interesting part about the "Holy Santos" is that Preston, Idaho is about 70% Mormon ... it was so cool how Pedro stood up for his faith, he didn't even care what people thought. It was awesome.
musturde Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I saw it, some was funny but sometimes they tried too hard. I guess i'm a hard critic when it comes to movies.

Stceciliapray4us Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005
Probably the greatest movie of the year!
AMEN
BullnaChinaShop Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Lauren and I loved the movie. We got the DVD for Christmas. I don't think the rest of my family enjoyed it as much as we did though.
lilac_angel Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 It was SWEET! Amazing! Jim and I felt like we could recite a lot of it only after watching it twice.
rufiokicks Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005
Did anyone see the wedding scene at the end of the credits?
You know it. I made my friends stay just so we could watch it, I could just tell there would be something at the end.
1337 k4th0l1x0r Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Can't we talk about some other movie? GOSH!
BullnaChinaShop Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Lauren and I watched it with the commentary last night. They had commentary from the director/writer, producer, and the guy who played Napoleon. It was interesting because a lot of the scenes were based on things that had actually happened to the director/writer and his brothers.
Socrates Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 One thing about that movie is it gets funnier the more you think about it. The first time I watched it, I was like "that's pretty funny." Then I remember it the next day and its hilarious! I think the movie will resonate (and perhaps bring back painful memories) for anyone who was an awkward, nerdy kid. The movie felt so un-Hollywood. The general hollywood/media message is that the adolescent/teenage years are something really sexy and cool. Napoleon Dynamite reminds us that in reality they are pretty dorky and stupid.
