you seem like a huge zelda fan, i can relate, so without a doubt i would go with gc
i know that windwaker seemed a little backwards, but they have a new zelda coming out with the graphics of ocarina or majora's mask, but link is an adult. it looks phat! i can't wait! not only that, but with gc, you can play all of your gameboy games on the telly instead of the little screen (not that there's anything wrong with the little screen)
no, i am not a 'tendo rep, but i do work at a game store ;)

one of the major reasons i'm looking at a ps2 is because of the Final Fanstasy series and the majority of RPGs are on the PS2 because of square/enix, and alot of the final fantasy remakes (and Chrono Trigger) were made for the PS1, so if i can still find those i could play them on the PS2. that's why i'm not really looking at the XBOX Plus it seems like alot of the games i could get for the ps2 (ie. GTA, Megaman, possible resident evil, soul caliber, ect) i could find on the came cube (with the exception that you can play link on SC2 on GC ). The big thing that's making me consider GC, besides the fact i grew up with nintendo, is the Zelda series, and i saw some clips of the new zelda game that Freak of Faith was talking about too (BEAUTIFUL GRAPHICS! :hearts: ), but is that coming out on the GC? Plus, i heard a rumore that nintendo is going to be selling the marketing rights of Legend of Zelda series to Sony within the next couple of years, has anyone heard anything about this?

Final Fantasy is an awesome series, but I hate how it steals the thunder of EVERY GAME that comes out.
"Oh, it's a good game, but Final Fantasy has better graphics." o_o We don't care. XO

Stay away from the gamecube. I personally have an X box and am going to get a PS2 soon. There just aren't many good RPGS on X box. So in your case get a PS2.

Out of the choice between PS2 and GameCube, I'd go with the PS2. The Gamecube is good only for the Super Smash Brothers Melee games. I may be biased, since I love RPGs, and the PS2 is the best game for RPGs. For many action or FPS games, Xbox blows the others out of the water. The Xbox's online features are also really cool.

Plus, the Gamecube has the most messed up controller out of any system I played. Honestly....it was designed for a nonhuman, so awkward to use.

well, getting slightly off topic, for all my fellow zelda fans, i found a pretty cool website about all the games in the zelda series, and some of the themes behind the series. apparently it's much deeper than "hero saves damsel in distress...again."

not sure where windwaker, and majora's masks, et al fit into the scheme of things tho.

Haha, if someone wants to do their Senior Thesis on the role of Link in Hyrule, this is an excellent source. Infiltrate our country's universities with video game philosophy and interpretations! :D

<nerd> Anyone have any ideas on some of the deeper themes in Pac-man or Tetris? Tetris has some themes regarding teamwork....all the pieces must work in unison to reach the grand goal of TETRIS. Sometimes you get the nasty blocks (the 2x2 blocks) that just get in the way. Just like in real life, there are nasties that keep us from acheiving our ultimate goals. You must find the best way to work with what you get. </nerd>

that would actually be a really cool idea! hehehe

back on topic, i think i may wait a little while and do some more research on both systems (i's po' right now anyways, and i need to get new tires on my car first=$$$$). right now i'm trying to figure out what each system is going to cost, gamecube i think i'm looking at $100, PS2 i'm looking at anywhere from $120 (preowned)-$300 with the new design system, plus they're totally sold out at every place i've been to. So i can't do anything if i went with PS2 now anyways. The only redeeming thing about the game cube for me right now is the new zelda game, so i may wait and see. btw, anyone have an idea about how much longer either system will be around before nintendo or Sony come up with their next big thing?

Nintendo will probably be out of the market for a while, since the GC flopped. The Playstation2 and XBOX Next are set to be released in North America around mid 2006, but it could be as late as 2007.

Does anyone have any idea how XBOX - GameCube - PS2 compare in sales at the moment?
