curtins Posted December 29, 2004 Author Posted December 29, 2004 pennywise and lagwagon are great bands never herd slick shoes or strung out
littleflower+JMJ Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 pennywise is okay-- i just like a couple of songs from them. (bro hymn--tribute) slick shoes is a tight band i love them. one of my favs, their pro-life. they got a song against abortion--tight lyrics. although their new stuff is different cuz the members changed, you should definilty get their rusty, waking up screaming or the blue flame CD. dotn worry about strung out lol their just the greatest punk band ever. but their secular i want to play bass like the guy from rancid. :afro:
curtins Posted December 29, 2004 Author Posted December 29, 2004 ahhh dude the rancid base player is soooo sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 i dont mind secular bands cuz thats all i listen to is slick shoes punk????
track2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 I loves me some MXPX. I used to have 2 of their CDs, but I think my friends "borrowed" them. Oh well.
littleflower+JMJ Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 ooh yeah slick shoes is punk i like their sound. i got into them after i started listening to mxpx. they have a hard sound on their cds with Jordan their guitarist and since its switched its gotten lighter--still good though. :band:
curtins Posted December 30, 2004 Author Posted December 30, 2004 ok ill be sure to get some of their cds which ones do you recomend (i like mod punk ie- nofx, dkm, rancid, mxpx, greenday, pennywise) stuff like that
littleflower+JMJ Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 i recommend their 2nd album if you want grrreat guitar leads and stuff its called "Burn out" and also their 4th album called "Waking up Screaming" for a differnt but still cool sound. The red album called "Rusty" is awesome too!! http://www.slickshoes.net jordan, their old guitar player, sounds like the guys from strung out...
save ferris 101 Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004
I loves me some MXPX. If you really want to here good stuff, listen to Operation Ivy. That is his band before Rancid, and it is ska-punk. They have influenced almost all modern punk bands, such as Green Day, who list them as a major influence. However, being punk, there are questionable lyrics. But yes, "Maxwell Murder" is one of the best bass lines ever. Glad to know you've heard of them
littleflower+JMJ Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 LOL i've heard operation ivy. yup. can never forget them after listening to them.... craziness...... i still remember one song that went......so let the sun shine in....hahah

DemonSlayer Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 If you like bands like MxPx, you should listen to Australian punk/alternative rock band Antiskeptic, who are also Christian. You can download or stream six songs from their two albums, here.
