voiciblanche Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005
thats why i buy on half.com plus its way cheap but dude hes sick!
It's really a shame how many really awesome punk and punk rock bands are pro-death. NoFX, for example, used to be like my favorite band. Rancid, too. But there's always the Transplants...
melporcristo Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005
But there's always the Transplants...
wait a moment ... the transplants?? explain that ... and explain the "pro-death" are you meaning pro-choice or euthanasia ... I really wish punk bands would clean up a bit.
ilovechrist Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 mxpx rules... i need to pick up another of their cd's.
bookin'it Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005
okay one of the best Christian bands who have that Op-Ivy sound has gotta be The Dingees. Wacky name, but very similar to Op-Ivy if they were into Christ. Anyone ever heard of em?
Based on the songs I have heard by the Dingees (their first two albums), I don't understand why they are characterized as a Christian band. Their sound is okay and the song "Could Be Worse" from the Armageddon Massive album is good. However, their music is not uplifting at all, spiritually or otherwise. "You in my heart" is the only song I could think of that could be God-centered.
Stceciliapray4us Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 The best new Punk out there is TSUNAMI BOMB. I normally dont like girl singers but she is really good. Old punk check out (OLD) YOUTH BRIGADE, positive messages (usually). They help the youth a lot. And another good punk band is GOOD RIDDANCE. Their best album is a comprehensive guide to modern rebellion. Saw STRUNG OUT a few years ago....didnt blow up my skirt. They had a lot of energy in their show but I just didnt like the music too much. For an amazing EPIC song check out "the decline" by NOFX. I cant stand NOFX, but this song is probably one of the most amazing things I have ever heard in my life! its like 12 mins long or something like that? its so amazing! THE MISFITS were probably one of the worst bands (when it comes to musical talent) ever, but Glen Danzigs vocal lines were soooo good. They stick in your head for years! but my all time favs are THE DECENDENTS and LAGWAGON. Hoss is one of my favorite albums of all time. I think their drummer is amazing too. I'll get down from my soapbox now....
littleflower+JMJ Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 i think ive only liked one song from good riddance but their a-okay. strung out really hurts how their soo off in their agenda and views but no one can play like them....their untouchable--my bro went to one of their concerts and he said any band who can play like the CD almost to the exact is awesome lol which is true.... man last time i heard nofx was when i was 13!! no lie hahaha i dont like them at all--their soo uncreative and lame (but thats solely my opinion of course lol) seriously but im just glad i didn't stay on that phase too long, i never liked the direction Fat Wreck chords took anyways now mxpx, i will always like but only cuz i had a crush on mike herrera lol and was a fan before they all got married--not to mention they got some great first songs and are christian.... the misfits are bad--i never liked them....i agree on lagwagon tho' hehe and hoss was good, can't beat haveing john wayne on the cover.....thou' i always got a kick out of listening to their "duh" cd lol man i haven't heard those cds in a looong time tho' i do hear bad religion, mad caddies, no use for a name, and millecolin in odd places like tony hawk (<-- my hero) video games to name one... lol now the ataris (dare i mention them) on movie soundtracks? yikes!!
littleflower+JMJ Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 oh yeah welcome to phatmass st.ceciliaprayforus! :tiphat: glad to have ya here  you can check in on the open mic board if youlike.... God bless
curtins Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 yes dude welcome im a big fan of nofx's music but some of their lyrics i deffinatly dont like but they havve some pretty awsome songs dropkick murphys imma big fan of as well as flogging molly and a bunch of other bands tsunami bomb i herd some of theyre songs and there pretty good
melporcristo Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005
dropkick murphys imma big fan of as well as flogging molly
i stopped liking flogging molly when the lead singer said at VWT'02 "Are there any Catholics here?" and then said, "Good ... good ... your overrated" Play a good show when they don't bash on the faith like that. A band like them who WAS Christian would be Calibretto-13. They were sometimes negative about people who claim they are Christian but arnt, but I would reccomend them. They unfortunately changed their name and genre. As for The Dingees comment, check out, "Dear Sister, Dear Brother". I agree they are one of the bands that prolly said they were about Christ but didn't do the praise/worship stuff. MxPx is a lot like that too. Good band. positive, but didn't sing about God too much.
curtins Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 but i dont think its bad if your not into the praise kinda music as long as you're pro God and pro life thats really what matters to me
