but you dont need to have a mass to be married in the church- my parents were married in a ceremony not in a full mass

also one more question-

whats the youngest age someone can get married in the church???

Posted

I would assume technically 7 (the age of reason) but I imagine that 18 is a requirement b/c i believe it is by law...I dont know is my answer

i've never heard of a ceremony before without a mass......

but i would ask why would you NOT want to have a mass?

the mass is the GREATEST prayer ever on this earth that has Jesus Present.

if i was cming before God to proclaim and commit my love for my future spouse, and to recieve that blessing in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony, He is definilty getting an invitation to be there ;)

theres no other option, subsitution or comparsion but to have a mass ;)

i mean that one day is the day you pick to come before God to say "his the one" "so Help me God!!"

now mass outside, might be an option? i dont know lol

What about Chaplains in the Armed Forces? They perform Mass outside or in tents when a church building is not avaliable.

Posted

well my parents didnt have a mass cuz my dad is hindu and his family was there so my mom just had the ceremony

and i would think you could definatly have it outside

why not???

in God's beautiful natural creation aka nature

Would it be possible if a portable Altar and Tabernacle were avaliable to do an outdoor Mass? If so, is that permissible?
and what about age?
According to the Code of Canon Law:
Can. 1083 §1 A man cannot validly enter marriage before the completion of his sixteenth year of age, nor a woman before the completion of her fourteenth year.

§2 The Episcopal Conference may establish a higher age for the lawful celebration of marriage.
The Code is normally understood to prohibit outdoor weddings in favor of sacred spaces. Only the bishop could determine whether a wedding outside a church or oratory was acceptable. For more accurate information, consult a canon lawyer.
Can. 1118 §1 A marriage between catholics, or between a catholic party and a baptised non-catholic, is to be celebrated in the parish church. By permission of the local Ordinary or of the parish priest, it may be celebrated in another church or oratory.

§2 The local Ordinary can allow a marriage to be celebrated in another suitable place.

§3 A marriage between a catholic party and an unbaptised party may be celebrated in a church or in another suitable place.

So I'm assuming its ok - at the discretion of the Priest/Bishop.
