We must believe that God created the earth and everything in it. We must believe that God created a man called Adam and a woman called Eve. We must believe that they were in union with God. We must believe that they sinned, i.e. in the fall of man and that original sin was the result. We are not bound to believe that the 7 days of creation has to be a literal seven days. Personally I believe that God could have done it all in seven days and made it look like it took billions of years but I am more inclined to believe that God didn't create the universe and the earth in a rush. Benedict Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 I believe that God arranged everything just so and then let it all fall into place over a few billion years, like a set of dominoes or a really great pool shot or Pee Wee Herman's house when he wakes up (from Pee Wee's Big Adventure). I find that much more impressive than 144 hours of creation.

Guest JeffCR07 Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 I'm not sure if this answers your question, Jazz, but the Church teaches us in the Catechism that the world was created in a state of journeying, and that He intended for man to participate in the completion and perfection of Creation, and thus we are called to be "co-creators" with Him

I'm just interested. I have nothing against either creationism or evolutionism, but I have yet to hear any intelligent creationist arguments, and I'd be interested in finding some. I base my creationism off of my own scientific research on the 'net. I recognize a Catholic can be an evolutionist (I used to be one), but with the knowledge I [i]currently[/i] have, I believe it is false. Have not decided on young or old earth theory yet though...

THe Bible explains why. The details are a bit fuzzy since CNN wasn't there to report the scientific details. Joseph Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 As a biologist, I have to say evolution is an excellent theory. Whether God decided to create everything in a way like evolution or to create everything within 6 days, I'm not sure. I dont think about it too much, since what is important is understanding that everything was created by God, not how He did it. The funny thing is that studying science has helped strengthen my faith in God.
