voiciblanche Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 Alright, obviously Lent is coming up, so now is the time to talk about your rituals, etc, (for lack of better words) because... um... I'm curious and it's good to share your saintly habits with others so that we can all learn from each other, you know, you get the point. So, uh... have at it.
crusader1234 Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 I'm actually thinking of going Vegan. Make it Friday all the way through.
Tony Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 I wish there was a way to give up depression for Lent but I dont know
what is vegan? you could work on depression. Pray the joyrful mysteries everyday. Imgaine the happiness of those events.

franciscanheart Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 I'll be changing the way I say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy from once a day by myself to once a day with family or friends. I will pray the rosary not only when I go to bed but also when I wake up. I generally fast during Lent, my whole family does. I will be praying harder for the souls in purgatory and go to adoration at least once a week. We as a family also pray very diligently throughout Lent for each other and for the things we have promised to do. We pray for stength against these worldly temptations so that we may better serve our Lord.
voiciblanche Posted January 30, 2005 Author Posted January 30, 2005 I need to bump that thread that had Micah's Lent diet in it... that was... educational. I won't be spending any time with the TV or the computer, and I'll be eating much differently (no desserts, etc), and trying to make daily Mass, and giving up small luxuries like snacks and hot showers and beds and good shoes... and much, much more prayer... I'm getting really excited just thinking about it.
franciscanheart Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 the no hot water-no warm water period-thing is a good one. we did that in canada (not by choice). what a sacrifice!! angela, erin, and i prayed the rosary together for the unborn in the shower to get us through it. it was so cold it hurt. what an experience!!
Tony Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 Id love to do something for lent but I dont have much encouragment honestly
spathariossa Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 Strict monastic fast - Only bread and water for all of lent. I did no meat for advent which was hard but I think I can pull this off.
Theoketos Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005
Strict monastic fast - Only bread and water for all of lent. I did no meat for advent which was hard but I think I can pull this off.
I would eat something more then bread, or at least make bread like they did in way olden times. Fasting is supposed to be in moderation. You need strength not to be grumpy.

Mmmm...psychotropic drugs...
MilesChristi Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005
Strict monastic fast - Only bread and water for all of lent. I hope you have one.
goldenchild17 Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 I'm still trying to decide what to do for lent... I'm wimpy when it comes to lent and I want to do something that will be a sacrifice. But I can't think of anything good... suggestions?
Theoketos Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 For us beginers, I do not recomend bodily mortifications, but instead works of Charity.
Bodily mortifications? Whoa. Is that what they call it? I'm not even trying to sustain myself on the eucharist yet.
