VeraMaria Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Hoover. Random and weird, I know Must be because my AP US History teacher says he only has bias when he talks about two presidents...he likes Hoover and dislikes Kennedy
sweetpea316 Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Haha....reminds me of my AP US History teacher! But as for me, I don't think I have a favorite personally...

Carnanc Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005
I hate it But then next year...with AP World History...there's a different story...
true, I'd never say that if I were still in it, lol, AP World is pretty sweet
sweetpea316 Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005
true, I'd never say that if I were still in it, lol, AP World is pretty sweet
Heh... I loved all my AP classes. And they totally pay off! It let me skip almost a whole year of college...woohoo!
Seatbelt Blue Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Poor Calvin Coolidge. For me it came down to Jefferson, TR, and Coolidge. I had to go with TR. But poor Calvin Coolidge. Best presidential name EVER.
Iacobus Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005
Hoover. Random and weird, I know Must be because my AP US History teacher says he only has bias when he talks about two presidents...he likes Hoover and dislikes Kennedy
I think he is nuts, lol. I understand disliking JFK, but Hoover was too scared to do anything like the New Deal. FDR just started throwing mud, knowing some would lose, but Hoover wouldn't even try for free of loss. TR, Jefferson, Ike, FDR, too many choices.
Cam42 Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Ronnie, Ronnie, Ronnie....he's our man....he created the world as we know it!!!!! Yay Reagan!!!!! My hero!!!!!! Cam42
missionarybelle Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 I just did GWB cuz I do NOT like clinton and I dont really remember anyone else
argent_paladin Posted February 22, 2005 Author Posted February 22, 2005 I certainly didn't expect that VeraMaria and I would choose the same president, and that that president would be Hoover. And yes, poor Cal, I would have gone with him but for my college loyalties. I totally disagree with those who criticize Hoover and Cal because the "didn't do anything". That's exactly why I like them. For the most part, I think new federal legislation and programs hurt America. FDR's policies, far from bringing us out of the Depression, probably extended it. Here's an interesting graph supporting VeraMaria's teacher: Note that JFK is by far the most overrated president and Hoover is one of the most underrated. Also, Reagan is the most underrated and the second most overrrated. Socrates Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 George Washington - First in War, First in Peace, First in the Hearts of his Countrymen! I was reading about a similar poll of presidents among American students which showed Washington coming in like 6th or 7th (behind both Clinton and George W. Bush), and also that most American kids know very little about the Father of Our Country. I think this is a shame.
