HSM-

You are forgetting one thing in the mist of you "fear." Two word for you "Mission Trip!" God obviously wants you on this trip, and I don't blame him. You are awesome HSM. I mean, you are the "Minnesotan Mother of PM" comon, what's coolier than that. :D HSM, you want to go, and I am positive that you will be fine. Anyway a little experence now with teenagers can help when the HSKids become teens, and it's good that HSDad is going to spend some time with the kids. (You are leaving emergency numbers right? J/K I know he'll do fine.) HSM, this is an awesome experience for you, take it. Remember a little Minnesota Nice goes a long way.

God bless and keep ya-

I said that already.

oh, good . . . shots too! . . . now for that, I might forfeit the deposit

mission to where? urban/rural? regardless, it does sound like fun . . . and Let_go and Mickey's_Girl both raise excellent "pro"s for the trip

water purification tablets? (oh, just skip the water and drink the pickled worm juice) big hat/sun screen/both? well broken in boots? extra socks? (if you and family have done any long term camping, you already know all this stuff!) (your own TP . . . and first aid kit?)

If you're going to Matamoros, you and the kids should swing by my place of employment. I'll buy you all a bottle of tequila. (But no marijuana Nathan. :nono: )

Just as long as you keep this to yourself when my cause for canonization is up. :P

For anyone who remembers this thread and wonders whatever happened...

The kids are there this week... and, well, I'm not.

I had to change plans not too long after I made this thread for a couple of reasons:

1. My mom had back surgery earlier in the summer and I was her primary post-hospital care provider. I wasn't sure how long she'd need me, but I am still running up to her house to care for her and yeah, HSDad couldn't really do it.

2. HSDad's job was and is in jeopardy, so we didn't think it would be prudent for him to take 8 days off when we really needed him to work.

So, they are in Mexico as we speak... <sigh> :(

Wow I'm sorry you had to miss the trip. I'm sure that the kids would have loved you!!

When I was running youth groups, I had a couple of volunteers that only did the mission trip. They were hysterical!!

I have no doubt that high schoolers would love you as much in person as they do online. If you had any other inclinations for getting involved with youth group stuff, i'd say go for it.

What a great role model you make for teen girls.

No punchline!

I mean it!

All kidding aside, I think you would be awesome with high school kids!

I think I need to work my way up to it. I'm just getting used to the eye rolling of my 9 year old...

For the record though, I do have some teenager experience in that we had a Russian high school student live with us as an exchange student. Then she wanted to go to college and she still lives with us... She's been here for six years. (age 15-21)...

See my problem is that two year olds find me boring.
