Give me an example that would hinder his decisions?
It wouldn't hinder his decisions. As a sheperd of the universal Church, an Eastern Catholic Bishop would do a fine job, I am sure. But the head of Western Catholicism (and the diocese of Rome) should share the theological heritage of his flock. An Eastern Catholic Bishop can "understand" Latin theology, just as a Latin Catholic Bishop can "understand" Eastern theology. But there's a difference between intellectual understanding, and actually living and breathing that theology. Latin Catholics deserve a leader who lives their theological traditions, not just understands it.
I mean, if the Pope's Latin Rite, he wouldn't be able to work well with the Eastern Rite Churches.
Aha. That's the key. He works "with" the Eastern Catholic Churches. He does not undertake the role as their immediate head (ie, their local Bishop or Patriarch). Eastern Catholics deserve to have an Eastern Catholic Bishop as their immediate head, who can lead them in their traditions. The Pope is their ultimate head, but his role is drastically different from their immediate head.

Myles Domini

Has anybody else found out that since His Holiness the late John Paul the Great died that they've learnt more about the individual Cardinals of Holy Mother Church than they have in their entire Catholic lives...

...or is it just me?
