For some upset liberals. Gah. I can't get past the first screen. "I hope it isn't Cardinal Rat." as the first comment.

(FWIW, I don't recommend engaging them in conversation. Nevermind me, though.)
People are already mocking him and saying that he looks evil/is evil on other boards.
um, I have a tendency to agree. This man looks very scary. There is something very wrong with the look in his eyes. You guys, we must be open to the fact that the bishops could have chosen the wrong person to be Pope. I'm seriously freaked out when I look at him.
Im not mocking him, Im just saying what Im seeing is not good.

Did the disciples not recognize Jesus when he first appeared to him after the resurrection? Can the devil not appear in the guise of an angel of light?

I really don't think Ratzinger/Pope Benedict particularly cares about whether or not people think he looks "evil." Neither should we. Anyone that can't get past appearances would be too shallow to recognize and listen to what he might have to say. I'd honestly like to think you're not one of those people.

As for the "right man" being pope, we need to trust God's wisdom and plan in time.

Ash Wednesday

I hope he scares the heilig krap out of pedophile priests with the wrath of God.

From the stations of the cross this year on the 3rd fall of Jesus:
"How much filth there is in the Church, and even among those who, in the priesthood, ought to belong entirely to him!"

I've been watching the Universal Father's career for sometime now. I'm a member of the Ratzinger fanclub, I've bought a couple of his book (and plan to buy more) and I also want the T-shirt. If you dont know him from what he has said or done before you should not try to make judgements upon what you're seeing now. The man's credentials and life experience speak for themselves. This is no Emperor Palpatine he's tried to resign from the Roman Curia 3 times in the past 15 years, such actions do not suggest a secret desire for power.

Get behind me SATAN! You're not asking us to be open to the bishops making a mistake. You're asking us to be open to the Holy Spirit making a mistake.

JPII knew what he was doing when he didn't accept the resignations!

A few years ago, one of my profs said that all Ratzinger wanted to do was retire to Germany and write books. My priest said that the best papal candidate would be one who didn't want it, and I think Benedict XVI fits that description

God Conquers

Andrew Sullivan has predicted a "civil war" in the Church.

BRING IT ON!!!!!!

You know Christ is on the side of orthodoxy and the Gospel in sucha battle...

And we are prepared. The pope's name is prophetic... Benedict, after St. Benedict a patron saint of SPIRITUAL WAR!

Crux Sancti Patris Beneficti: The Holy Cross of St. Benedict

Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux,Non Draco Sit Mihi Dux

- May the holy Cross be my light,
Let not the dragon be my guide.

Vade Retro, Satana!
Nunquam Suade Mihi Vana.
Sunt Mala Quae Libas
Ipse Venena Bibas.

-Begone, Satan!
Suggest not vain things to me.
Evil is the cup thou offerest;
Drink thou thine own poison.
