"Believe all the all the Good you hear and only the Evil you see."
That is my advice.

i know people who left the legion because the way they were treated and the way the legionares acted was 'cult like' and these people are devote catholics mind you. now, at one point i know that they were a good group, but lately their behavior has gotten freaky. but hey, if anyone's thinking of a vocation, i can't possibly tell you in words how awesome the fransiscan friars are!
I don't know enough (actually anything) about them to comment.

But what I would like to say, with some past experience is watch for "signals."

How do they treat each other?
Are the truly Christ-like to  each other?
Are they whole, spiritually, emotionally, physically, morally?
Is the atmosphere realistic?  Are they FULLY human, do they
laugh, cry and occasionally get angry with each other?
Are they allowed or encouraged to express and discover
who they are, without repercussions?

These are a few signs of a good community.
No matter what their name is

Just please be careful.

That is what i have seen. they are strict that is true but they all radiate with HS!!

Abotut his though, mistakes are made and sometimes we leave with hard feelings because of what one person said, please remember we are not all perfect and someone could be affected with a bit of pride so please no hard feelings about the legion or RC cause we are growing and we aren not in anyway prefect, if you or someone you know was hurt i know the legion and rc in a whole is sorry.

Hmmmmm, I know some consecrated women of Regnum Christi. I like them, I think that they are good for introducing youth to Jesus. They aren't my favourite lay movement, but I think that in their case, the good outways the bad. If through them, the Holy Spirit is drawing people closer to Him, thats AWESOME! I personally love meeting people who are on fire for Christ, and out of the Legionaires and consecrated women I've met, I think they are truly alive with the radiance of Christ shining through. I don't have anything against them as such, but if there are serious claims made against them, it should be looked into.

Also, God works in different ways for different people. What makes you the best person you can be, won't necessarily be for some one else. Another thing, Regnum Christi and the Legion ar made up of humans, and we all make mistakes, so I think that their overzealousness could be put down to that.
(as much as I dislike being told I should be a consecrated member rather than a nun in community. <_<

I'm staying out of this one.

When it happened I did tell another nun and she called me a liar and slapped me. When the nun involved was questioned she said I made it up to get attention. I suffered other abuses while I was there.

To me personal experience is proof.

I don't doubt anyone's word.
What concerns me is the "mind set" of "Oh, they would NEVER do that."
NEVER IS A LONG TIME. It is kind of like the expression "You really don't know someone until you live with them." TRUE TRUE TRUE

Discerning with a community is not living with them. So let's knock the stardust out of our eyes. I set forth the thought that you need to look at the community (or future spouse) realistically.

One other thing I read that I find curious is the use of the word MISTAKE.
A mistake is an OOPS kind of a situation. ABUSE IS SOMETHING ELSE.
Hopefully you know the difference.

i am not looking at LC or RC specifically. The guidelines I gave were to any and all communities you may be considering.

Go with your gut (instinct) if it doesn't feel right then it probably isn't.

I understand that different communities appeal to different people. I would hope so. What does that have to do with communities that are in fact abusive?

I forget who said, oh well the Pope likes them. SO, the Pope doesn't have to live with them. If anything HINKY is going on do you honestly think he knows?

While discerning with the community I am not mentioning they had on their SUNDAY FACE. It wasn't until I entered that I saw the face come off.

ALL I AM SAYING IS 1) Go with your gut. 2) Ask questions. Ask a lot of questions. Watch the reaction you get. Listen to the answers you get. Do they make sense to you. If they don't are you encouraged to ask why? 3) Go with your gut.

All i'm asking is that you stay away from pointing fingers at the legion because i have lived with them and they are not abusive in anyway.
sorry about your experience but you can't apply it to this situation. It's not a "sunday face" as you might say.

I'm not saying that everyone should love them and jion them, it's a vocation to be a member of the Legion and Regnum christi.
and with that i think enough is said.

What goes around comes around, i've had this covosation more then once so please let's leave it be. it would make it so much simpler.

She specifically pointed out that she was speaking in general and not specifically at LC or RC, so don't get your blood pressure in the stratosphere.

Besides, looking at your profiles, you are only 15, she is 48. You kiddies need to start respecting the life experience that your elders have and you don't.

She may be 15 but she's not just some other teenager. Maybe she didn't read that part, both of us together are dissapointed at so much attack against the movement and she was probably worried.

Also, she didn't say what opheritup said was wrong, she does respect the elders and so do I.

As with any discernment with an order, GO VISIT THEM AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. I have found the Legion to be a generallly good order. You may be surprised, however, at some of their formation and litugical practices.

There are those who absolutley hate the Legionaries, and there are those who think they are the greatest. Some observations from both "sides" are quite valid. What matters is what God wants of you. Like I said, you gotta check them out to get the real scoop.
