CanCath Posted May 5, 2005 Share Posted May 5, 2005 Hello pholks! It was my understanding that Alleluia, and Hallelujia mean two different things, and aren't translations at all... Doesn't Alleluia mean "He is Risen"? That's what I was told anyway.... I know Halleluja is Hebrew and it means Praise the Lord. A friend of mine taught me another word too: SHABACH-U-YA! About the halleluia thing vs. alleluia, the word is even sometimes spelled with a j instead of an i and when you see it with a j, it has an h at the end, as in allelujah or hallelujah.
