thessalonian Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 (edited)
what a beautiful and charitable letter
I agree. He is a good man. Today is a day to be proud to be Catholic. But the gates of hell will be awakened by this and the next few days or weeks will be interesting I think. Edited May 5, 2005 by thessalonian
MilesChristi Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I think the sashes shouldn't just be removed before Holy Communion - they shouldn't be brought anywhere within the church during any part of the Mass! I'm glad His Excellency is taking a step in the right direction though, and I admire the great charity with which he wrote that letter.

the_rev Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 whats a rainbow sasher? Flynn has a history of kicking people out of his dioceses.
the_rev Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Ok, I guess this was called for, but I still don't think the Legion being banned was necessary.
The rainbow sash group is a group of pro-homosexual agenda Catholics headed by gays. They have held protests throughout the US in which they go to Mass wearing a rainbow sash to protest the Churches position on gay issues.

Cam42 Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Nope.... The big question is, "Will Archbishop Flynn do anyting about it, if they present themselves?" I hope so. I won't count my chickens though. Too much history, especially since I was involved with the HLI fiasco. Cam
franciscanheart Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 lgbt? anyone? i think i know but... im not sure.
philothea Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 And, following up on this rainbow sash protest thing, it looks like most bishops tell parishes deny communion to people wearing sashes. So that's good. Also, I discovered there is (was?) a salt stain in the concrete on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago that people think is Mary. Kinda silly. There are many odd things that search engines turn up.

thessalonian Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 Boy talk about calling good evil and evil good, this Brian McNeil, who AB Flynn has been working with in Minnesota is way out there. Listen to this in a letter he sent to Bishop Flynn in April of this year: http://www.rainbowsashallianceusa.org/ToFlynn05.htm "I cannot speak for all lgbt Roman Catholics, but all those I know sincerely do believe their gay sexuality is from God, and hence a gift; a grace, if you will. At a minimum, it makes no sense for a priest to request a fellow Catholic to remove a symbol celebrating one of God’s gifts before receiving communion. It would make more sense for the cathedral staff to hand out the Rainbow Sash than it is to ask those who are celebrating to remove it, if one of the purposes of Mass is to thank God for the many gifts She has given to us. Asking us to remove the Rainbow Sash before communion is like asking a newly ordained priest to take off his stole before communion." By the way, last year when I was at the Cathedral (as an Usher of the Eucharist on Pentecost) and doing the sign of peace with a Rainbow Sash wearer I was threatened physically by him if I got in his way to go to communion. So much for the last paragraph in Mr. McNeil's letter that says there just a bunch of peacenicks. I was also called names outside the Church. THis movement will become very hostile. Incredible. Blessings
