A church is not a political playground. It is a place for worship. I understand what they want, but the place to do this is not at Mass. They should maybe schedule a visit with the bishop, since he is atleast willing to deal with them peacefully.

And does this strike anyone else as odd?

Not surprising.

It's the sort of thing one expects to hear from someone who thinks practicing homosexual acts brings him/her closer to God.

No, I mean that they are using female pronouns to describe God. 'Her creation', 'the many gifts She has given to us'... what's up with that?

Yeah, I saw that too, Mark...weird.

There was a big event in Philly this past weekend. It was called Equality Forum, celebrating 40 years of Gay rights activism. It was CRAZY. My boyfriend and I had planned on going down to pray at their parade, but we weren't able to make it. I deeply regret not being there....so many of our brothers and sisters are misled and buying into these lies.

I really feel called to do something to make a stand. God is presenting so many opportunities. Pray that I will respond.

As for this situation in Minnesota: AWESOME!!! Such a nice thing to hear on a day like today (my eyes won't stay open. I was up late studying for an 8am final.)

That went right over my head. Thank you for pointing it out.

In a Religion class I had this year called "Church in the Modern World" we discussed why some people called God "her." We talked about the "inclusive" sign of the cross, which went something like, "In the name of the Creator, and of the Liberator and of the Empowering Spirit." The teacher didn't actually agree with this, but she was required to discuss it in the class (because the religion department is run by a feminist, as in she has actually told me she was upset that JPG wouldn't let women be ordained!)
Boy talk about calling good evil and evil good, this Brian McNeil, who AB Flynn has been working with in Minnesota is way out there.  Listen to this in a letter he sent to Bishop Flynn in April of this year:

http://www.rainbowsashallianceusa.org/ToFlynn05.htm
"I cannot speak for all lgbt Roman Catholics, but all those I know sincerely do believe their gay sexuality is from God, and hence a gift; a grace, if you will.  At a minimum, it makes no sense for a priest to request a fellow Catholic to remove a symbol celebrating one of God’s gifts before receiving communion.  It would make more sense for the cathedral staff to hand out the Rainbow Sash than it is to ask those who are celebrating to remove it, if one of the purposes of Mass is to thank God for the many gifts She has given to us.  Asking us to remove the Rainbow Sash before communion is like asking a newly ordained priest to take off his stole before communion."
Saying that their sexuality is from God is denying the Catholic Church's teaching that SSA is intrinsically disordered. While having a homosexual orientation isn't sinful in and of itself, it is not from God; it is a result of our fallen human nature.

I'm disgusted by his comparison of the Rainbow Sash to the stole. No orthodox Catholic would say something like that. The priesthood is a holy ministry. Is Mr. McNeil trying to imply that homosexuality is a holy ministry? If so, that's blatant heresy.

To me, it seems that many practicing homosexuals have issues with their fathers. Mistrust of fathers could also lead to mistrust of God the Father. Regardless of their reason for writing that, it's heretical.

I'm confused here... If their sexuality is not from God, then where is it from? Surely they didn't choose it?

No, they don't choose it, but it's still not from God. When Adam and Eve sinned, they brought sickness and death into the world. Homosexuality, being intrinsically disordered, is not from God; it's a sort of sickness. On the other hand, I wouldn't deny that God could use the sufferings of chaste homosexuals to bring them closer to Himself.

I heard on EWTN (I think it was Life on the Rock) that homosexuality actually stems from early childhood, and how they are treated by people of different genders, especially thier parents. Which is why it is important for kids to have a mom and a dad and be loved and cared for by both. A lot of people say that homosexuality is genetic, but if there is anything genetic, it is only an influence, meaning that it makes you more likely, it doesn't mean you will be. (for example, Alcoholism is a genetically influenced trait, meaning that if you have the gene for it, you are more likely to be alcoholic, but you will not necessarily be alcoholic).

I want to clarify that while it stems from early childhood, it isn't a consious decision or anything. They don't choose it, but God did not make them that way. It was external factors from when they were very small.

As Apo once said,
No one is born a "homosexual," because the homosexual inclination is not an ontological reality; instead, it is a relative absence of the good in the will of the creature. Like all other forms of concupiscence it is objectively disordered and is to be overcome by the power of God's grace.
