I hope you fond something really good, Jake!

I looked on the one website for our area and there is a family practioner about 41 minutes away (same as Pittsburgh, where my midwives are) but the only OBGYN is over 2 hours away. My last labor was only 2 hours long, so even 40 minutes is cutting it really close (I was there for 30 minutes before Genevieve was born, so even 40 minutes seems almost too close for me).

Wow! You'r fast. LOL. Say a prayer for Erika. She's hoping labor goes fast for her also.

We'll see what happens.

I will be praying for her for sure. :) With Adrienne it was 5 1/2 hours, and honestly, I recommend that kind of labor over 2 hours. lol Precipitous (under 3 hours) labors can carry risks--like hemmoraging--and its pretty excruciating. Labor is painful anyway, but it kind of builds up, my 2 hours were killer from the first contraction (after Genevieve was born I was given a shot of pitocin to prevent hemmoraging, etc.).

Wow! Praise God. So I called this Pro-life, NFP only, Catholic Dr. yesterday. Dr. Suzanne Regul. Unfortunately she's already retired! :( But she recommended 2 women Dr.s Dale Capulong's Pro-life and definitely Catholic (she goes to the same Church as Dr. Regul) and another one's Pro-life (not sure if she's Catholic), Dr. Violetta Faryno. Both don't appear to be NFP only, but we can work on that. ;)

I'll let you know which one we pick. I'll be calling them today.

Another + is that they work at a hospital that is much closer to my wife's work. We've already registered at the other one... but it's easy enough to change. We'll see.

Hi Jake!

Wow I'm so excited for you and Erika and your little one!

I am also excited that you are able to find a prolife doctor. I have been on the search here for one that is somewhat closer than an hour away with no luck. I even called one of our deacons who is a retired pediatrician and he wasn't able to give me any tips either. Right now I have to tolerate a doctor that doesn't call NFP "voodoo" (like my last doc). I'm so envious!

I hope Erika is doing well, only three more months to go!! :)

Jared (BullnaChinaShop) says hi too.

Thank you! I'll keep you guys in prayer.

So... I think we're going to go with the second choice, Dr. Faryno. Even though we're not sure if she's Catholic. Here's what happened.

I called the office of the first Dr., Dr. Capulong, and the receptionist seemed really cold. I mean she wouldn't let me talk to the doctor, which is understandable, but then she wouldn't even let me leave a message - not even just my name and number! You basically have to become a patient to even talk to her. Which means you have to pay to find out if you even like the person. So she said I could call the office manager when she's in on Monday. Then I called the second doctor, and the receptionist was much nicer. She took all our info and was happy and everything. She did tell me how busy the doctor is (Popular is the word she used - which is good that a Pro-life Dr. is popular), so she didn't guarantee that she'd call me back soon. But an hour later the office manager there called me back and offered to answer my questions. So I asked if she knew if the doctore was Catholic, and she didn't know. She said that she was Polish though, so maybe! :) But she is also familiar with NFP - not necessarily NFP only, but at least she knows how to handle it, etc. Apparently there is one family where the parents used it and now the married kids are using it. Sounds promising. So we set an appointment with this doctore at the end of the month.

Please pray that she ends up being Catholic... but even so, that the will of God be done.

Oh, and my mom told me that the retired Doctor, Dr. Regul, actually delivered my cousin! LOL. Small world.

I'll keep yall posted.

Thats wonderful that you found a promising possibility (and a woman doctor to boot!) I'll keep praying, hopefully she's Catholic and what you're looking for!

wow, Jake, I'm so happy for ya'll!

prayers that all goes well and that she's Catholic.

and FYI, I don't think your being picky at all. Your looking for a vital quality in a doctor and that's the best reason to search and search until you find it.

you wouldn't be called picky if you were looking for an actual doctor with a degree, your just looking at a quality that will play a major role in how that doctor will use thier degree.

God bless and prayers as always.
