Dudette Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 awwwww! Ok, we are hi-jacking this thread. I'll leave now. *exits out of this thread*
immaculata Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 I grew up on Windows.. next year at college I'll be forced to make the switch to Mac.
Dudette Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 I want to get a Mac, I hate Microsoft with a passion. However...there are some things I don't like about Macs.
immaculata Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 I'm pretty proficient on Office programs, although I must say that Access is straight from the devil himself.
Dudette Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 You don't know the difference between a Mac, a microsoft, and a linux!?!?!
Sarah_JC Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Mac's are nice stable systems. They take some getting used to, but so does any new computer. They get way less viruses (some people say they don't get viruses at all, but I don't know that for sure.) Also, you can get the table top's in pretty colours. I wish I had a Mac...
philothea Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 I prefer Linux. The transition can be a little difficult (especially if you don't have anyone on hand to help you) but afterwards you get all kinds of capabilities, which you normally have to buy in Windows or Mac.
Mogmog Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Macs are sexy these days, and since they basically run a *nix variant you get all the good free software too. I find them to be too expensive. I can get more power for less in the PC market. I love Linux (Debian) don't get me wrong, but as I game I have my main machine dual boot with XP. These days you really can't go wrong, unless you want to game. Then you need a PC.
Ash Wednesday Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 I've got a Mac, since I'm an artist and designer. If you're in the visual or creative field, PCs don't hold a candle to a Mac. But I'm an admitted Mac bigot. A lot of programmers like my boyfriend swear by Linux. The advantage of Windows is that you have more doors open to you with a lot of things -- especially online, for example, the Launch video network is PC only. But as a general thing -- computers are a matter of personal taste among the average users. Even if I wasn't an artist I would probably like the feel of the Mac most. I've always found them to be the most smooth and user-friendly. I find Windows/PC to be clunky and boring.
bookwyrm Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Last year my computer science teacher told us 'The only thing good about Windows '98 is that it smells of elderberries less than Windows '95.'
