justin165243 Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 What parts do u think have bad acting? I thought that the acting was great! It couldn't have been better! Name one part with bad acting, if you think there is such a part I love star wars! Wahahaha!
Carnanc Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 thank you. the new movie is awesome. the acting while not perfect is certainly acceptable for star wars. its a great movie.
RootbeerDumdums Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 In the beginning, when Anakin and Obi-Wan are talking about how great Anakin is and how he deserves the credit and how he has saved Obi-Wan's life 9 times...etc, etc. That was a pretty lousy acting spot. I didn't think it was too terrible. Just that part in the beginning had some issues.
ardillacid Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Although the acting was bad, i believe it was the script mainly that contributed to the ronchiness. How about when Darth Vader finds out padme died. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" it was like something out of MAD tv
reelguy227 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 That noo was actually pretty moving for me ,as for many of the fans on star wars .com ,it made it all the more deeper and you felt for vader on how he was duped by Palps.
Mikhail Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 The acting on the movie was so bad, that I believe anyone could have done it better than them. Padme was so bad it sounded like she was reading the lines off of Anakin's chest. Obiwan did a great recreation of Sir Alec, and there were a few others who managed to pull off some decent acting, but overall it was terrible. As for the movie itself, the plot was boring and depended too much on special effects. Star Wars was never really a good story, but it was the first movie to have such amazing special effects for it's time. It built up a strong enough fan base that the movies don't have to be good for people to go and see them. The plot was filled with paradoxes and was throughally predictable. The movie itself was so boring that it was the first time I actually wished I had brought a book to a movie theatre. Here's something I wrote on another forum, as well as a friend's post.
It was fine, I suppose. Not my kind of thing, but it was good enough for what it is. Certainly a bit of an improvement over the abominable first two installments of the sextology, if only just. And Christopher Lee was in it...for five minutes. So for five minutes I was completely satisfied. I was also impressed by Mr. MacGregor's fine recreation of a young Alec Guinness voice. It sounded as though he'd based it on Sir Alec's voice in "The Man in the White Suit", which pleased me immensely. I'd have to say, however, that the chap who played the young Darth Vader, this Hayden Whatshishead fellow, apparently has the acting abilities of a lump of driftwood. He knows how to glower...a lot, but that's about it. Beyond that, he can't act in the least. It was genuinely painful for me to watch many of his scenes, simply on account of the abominable lack of talent he displays in every single shot. The best bit was just watching the crass little twit roast. As an addendum, Ian McDiarmid shines once again. A truly fine actor - shame he's so terribly neglected. Marvelous in everything he's been in. In fact, he completely stole this film. Yes, I agree with Addison's observations. I'd like to point out a rather large paradox in the film (paradoxes have never stopped Hollywood before, I know). Anakins premonitions of his wife's death was what drove him to the dark side. However, his wife died because of his going over to the dark side. Also, Anakin refused to let that Jedi master kill the emperor because it "wasn't the Jedi way!!" (even after he had seen the emperor kill the other Jedi masters) However, as soon as he let the emperor kill the Jedi master, he went and slaughtered all of the Jedi, including the children. That was hardly the Jedi way. Then when he saw that he wasn't able to stop the death of his wife, since she died anyway, he should have recognized that it was a trick that the emperor used to get him to switch to the dark side. Several more things that don't quite jive. The fact that the construction of the death star begins at the end of the film, and is only completed when episode IV starts some 20 years later. Yet it only takes a few years to build the second one. Obi Wan looks shocked when Yoda tells him there is another Skywalker in one of the first three films. However, he trained him, so he would have known. Lastly, the actress that plays Anakin's wife couldn't act at all!! I mean, she wasn't just bad, she was horrible!! It was almost painful to watch. Frankly, I saw better acting in my younger siblings Christmas play. Overall, I found the movie a little boring. The SciFi fighting was just basic action you get in any action movie. The rest of the story was easily predictable because you could see how it had to link up with IV.
Aloysius Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 the acting is typical star wars style... watch the classics plus jedis are supposed to be in control of their emotions

Your previous post is a bunch of bs relating to the storyline . First of all ,Anakin said that it wasnt the jedi way because it actaully wasnt , if Mace was going to kill Palpatine ,it may have not been the jedi way but it was something that had to be done ,every jedi uses the darkside somewhat to destroy their villains ,Luke did to Vader ,and Obi Wan did to Maul thats the way it goes,Jedi usually dont like to kill ,but when they have to ,the dark side is flowing through them a little. Anakain threw away the good side ,thats why he went on the killing spree ,he totally changed when he pledged himself to the emprerors teachings . Second of all the image of the death star could have been taken who knows how far into the future ,not all of the scenes are chronologically in order at the end of the movie. We dont know if the death star was built right after episode 3 or if that shot could have been taken a matter of years after . It probably was some amount of years after considering the fact that the imperial army and governors are all uniformed and in place ,that wouldnt have happened that fast . justin165243 Posted July 3, 2005 Author Posted July 3, 2005 i am totally shocked at these posts! Blasphemy!!! Blaspemy!!! *jk* i do agree that Portman's acting could have been better, but, how are you supposed to act out some of those emotions? But, she didn't do the greatest job, but i think that the storyline was great, the fights were great, and the special effects were great, but does everyone the acting because the critics say it is bad? It is not as bad as everyone says. I love the movie, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
FightingforGod Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 acting was icky, but its george lucas's star wars, its classic...so we must just over look the acting, ditch the newest three movies, and stick with the originals
