I wonder.. it might have been on last night too. I saw a show all about neo-darwinism last night on ewtn, and It basically helped me almost decided my position on creation - that it was not by evolution. Edit - Yep this is the show. It was really good.

Catholic sweetie Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 the show "Life On the Rock" on EWTN is a good show

Thy Geekdom Come Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I watched this last night. I was completely convinced that evolution is nothing but smoke and mirrors. I also found this funny: Scene: a paleontology dig in China Chinese Scientist: As you can see, these fossils debunk the theory of evolution. German Scientist: I thought this was a science convention! Here you are pushing religion! Commentator: What religion was the Communist Atheist Chinese scientist pushing, exactly? Was it Judaism or Christianity or Islam? And more importantly, if it was Judaism, was it orthodox or reformed?

cathgirl Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005
no EWTN
why? (I don't want to change the direction of this thread, but I was just wondering...) I love how the author Matt Pinto explains creation vs. evolution and other theories.

Phazzan Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 geniuses! You can "debunk" evolution the same way you debunk man landing on the moon. But at the end of the day, just because one premise might seem flawed or unsubstantiated doesn't dismantle the whole theory. And it's a HELL of a lot more plausible than 7 day creation, or a literal interpretation of Genesis. It also annoys me that some people after watching a documentary think they can become "completely convinced" of whatever message the film is trying to promote. Nothin' but puppets you lot. Make no mistake Raphael, you may think your mind is at ease, but you will be plagued by doubts once again! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

There is no reason to believe in evolution. Darwin himself said not even 100 million years could explain the vast diversity among the world. Furthermore, the universe would have to be more than 1,000 times it's current age for a simple bacterium to evolve, if it's descendants reproduced once a second.

Get lost Raph. Evolution isn't supposed to be perfect, but it's by far the best explanation of how everything living got here. It's not wrong, and it makes more sense the traditional Christian "popping out of thin air" theory. There's too much that makes sense out of evolution just to dismiss because one or two things seem out of place. It makes too much sense to go "oh, that's not right, yay God's true yay" to do that! I also think it's ridiculous that the theory of creation is only substantiated by your attempts to prove evolution wrong, as there is no way you (or your chums) can justify your position using logic or reason.
Old_Joe Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 Well, phazzan let me ask you this: When you watch a puppet show do see the puppets as acting under their own power or you see the puppeteer controlling their movements?
