[quote name='IcePrincessKRS' date='Jul 6 2005, 12:47 AM']Mom's ALWAYS find out. It may not be right away, but they do. If you're going to the abbey and the sisterhouse already I say stick to the plan you agreed upon with your mom. If you want to go to the other parish right away then ask, say its just a couple blocks away from the sister house (which is TRUE) and that you'd like to visit, check it out, say hi to Jesus, etc. (again, all true) if worse comes to worse she still says no, but you'd be honest in asking her and letting her know it was close to the sisterhouse so you're not going way out of your way to get there.

There are lots of things, most of them religious in nature, which my mom hasn't figured out.

:D Mom's aren't *that* perceptive.

Like I said, it may not be right away.... ;)

you know this is interesting.. I mean its a sin to break the Law.. but not if it gets in the way of practicing your faith (prayer in school for example)..

with that, I wonder if the same thought process or whatever you wanna call it applies here

You probably could, but I think it would be kind of a stretch since his mom is already letting him go to the abbey for prayer and adoration, and to the sisterhouse. She wouldn't be barring him from going to these places at all, just the third stop (after he will have already spent time in front of the Blessed Sacrament an couple hours earlier).

First let me say I'm glad I'm not Al's mom. ;)

Second, I'm the master of "Evasive Action Theory" with my own mom-- but I'm an adult, so it doesn't count.

Third, if the perpetual adoration chapel is so close to the abbey, why not just walk there? And Rev, your original post mentions adoration at the Abbey... why go twice?

and lastly, I don't think it's right for a teenager to deceive his parents just because he doesn't agree with them and then wonder why parents don't trust their kids. <_<

hey! I specifically said NOT to deceive his mom :P

anyway, yeah, I just noticed that... if you have adoration at the abbey then just go that time, it's all good. It's if the parent is going to prevent you from being able to do something good and pius that I would suggest evasive action. Jesus must be loved even above your parents and if they are going to use the information to stop you from doing some pius act of love for Him then there is no problem with simply leaving them ignorant of the fact that you are doing it.

I would have a hard time doing this evasive action thing because my mom always assumes that where I say I am going that is where I am going, and if I go anywhere else, she really expects me to tell her. But then again she would pretty much always be supportive of me going to the adoration chapel. I'm not sure I voted no, but I think it would be ok if you mention it to her at some time.

I would like to say, as a sixteen year old, moms have a funny way of knowing things, maybe, when a woman has kids, some how it makes her have psychic powers or something :P but just tell ur mom, even if she says no, she would appreciate ur honesty. Also, as a side note, when St. Teresa of Avila started having visions of Jesus, her confessor thought it might be the devil and told her to do "curse of the figs" next time she saw Him again. She did and apologized and Jesus said she was right to obey her confessor
