There's a story about Cardinal Woijtyla.  He was about to celebrate the inaugural Mass at a Cathedral that he had to build, despite the communists.  Anyhoo, one of his advisors was afraid that the rumors that the Cardinal would be assasinated by the communists were true.  He expressed his fears to the Cardinal, to which the Cardinal replied, "Fear only rain."

That is so awesome!! Aww ... John Paul the Great, pray for us!

Also -- I usually try to pray each night for the protection of our Holy Father and his intentions each night after my rosary. So definately keep praying friends!

I've thought about that too, and I wonder if it weren't for lack of trying...It would have been the perfect time and place for them to attack and yet nothing happened. Not even a small thing, so it makes me wonder if it never occured to them or if they did try, and failed...either one would be acts of God!

I remember the news reporters saying stuff like, "Many people would like the next Pope to reach out to the people more."

I'm like, "Turn around and tell me what you see."

Those news reporters amused me, so few had any idea what they were talking about...one asked what was going to become of the Catholic Church...as if we'd never had a pope die before! And it was even better how everyone came running when the new Pope was elected. http://catholiceducation.org/articles/media/me0045.html I like this article because it says it so simply and so well. And that too, could be the reason nothing terrible happened during the funeral and the election of the new Pope.

I'll be in Rome and Assisi before I get to WYD but honestly, if I can get to confession soon, I don't think I will be afraid to die at all. In fact, I wouldn't mind dying young... I'm not trying to be morbid, but I guess I just trust in the Lord to call me when He needs to.

Hate to get in to a theological debate but I don't look at it as God's will if they attack. God allows it but it is the will of men that he allows. The terrorists do not do his well. He allows it because no matter what men do by the power of satan his grace abounds where sin is and so in the end his will is the result, no matter what. That is why we know victory is assured in the end.

I think what he means is that God's will shall prevail in the end...

It's a beautiful article. There are so many similarities between JPG and Benedict. My friends and I were saying that they were so alike that it would be like one long papalcy. Not to mention that they were on opposite sides of history. While Karol was working hard in the Nazi Labor Camps, Joseph was being drafted into Hitler's Youth and the Nazi Army, and then he goes AWOL at a time when he would've been killed for doing so.
