People can rightly feel guilty...but they can't rightly feel like carp, because we're made in God's image and we're all beautiful creatures, even if we are terribly flawed.
Phazzan Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Self esteem is a mind-set. It's how you define yourself relative to how you see others define you. If you define yourself by how others define you, you may have low self esteem if those people think bad things about you. If you define yourself according to your own standards and values, then you can have high (healthy) self esteem if those standards are realistic and values are positive, because you wont care what other people think about you. It's all about having a healthy self image.

cmotherofpirl Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Self esteem comes from knowing you did a good job and are proud of it. Lack of self-esteem comes from comparing your results to others. Comparing is always a waste of time because there is a always someone better than you - which can make you feel bad, or someone apparently worse off which leads to false sense of superiority. You self esteem is directly related to the effort you put into something and the feeling you have about the results.
