Thank you, I can always rely on you for feedback, be it positive or negative, and I really do appreciate that.

Thank you though it gives me confidence for when I preach it tomorrow.

God Bless

We all have it in one way or another.

My family is coming tomorrow...of all days. I ask that you keep me in your prayers during the 9:00AM and the 11:00AM Mass as I preach the homily I have prepared.

Thanks

God Bless

It went incredibly well. I did not stick to the text exactly as it is written here, and changed things around a bit. However, I got a lot of positive feedback on that sermon, especially at the 11AM Mass, since the family of the guy who died last Sunday in Church was there as well.

Thank you to you both....my two "homily fans" ;)

Although, I do have to thank our new PM'er, ofpheritup, cause your recommendation that we are all in a boat and I am there as well, really helped me get focused. Well, that and your cute story about the little girl in first grade ;)

God Bless you both and Thank You

[quote name='Theologian in Training' date='Jul 18 2005, 10:02 AM'] Hey, I am still new, and trying to find a style. I know people are not as patient, but if I am not patient in finding a style then I will be rushing to give out garbage.

Okay here I am again

You have a style allready JUST BE YOURSELF. Do you have to REFINE it, sure. Do you have to integrate it into your vocation, yup. But it allready exists.

I have taught school for the last 8 years (substitute). And I have been telling my "babies" that God WANTS, NEEDS us to be who he created us to be. SO THEN GO BE YOU, celebrate yourself and the rest will fall into place. I promise.

I am facing a weird situation...I need to write this sermon, but it almost feels like homework, and I don't want to do my homework. Granted, it is different and it is not for a grade, but still....

Anyway, any prayers you have available you might want to throw up there would be very helpful

God Bless

I have nothing...no clue what to say...it is just not clicking. Tomorrow may be my worst homily yet, because as it stands right now, I have no choice but to make something up off the cuff...exactly what I hate, thinking the priest never prepared, and yet I may be doing the same thing, given the same criticism.

This smells of elderberries

Perhaps the Holy Spirit is blocking your brain so that He can do some speaking through you.

Short, sweet and to the point. Perhaps not the best, but I have the 5:00PM Mass, and need to time to let the words dissolve in my palate.

God Bless

Saint Alphonsus Ligouri, an 18th century saint recounts the story of a Poor Clare sister who, given her long and frequent visits to the Blessed Sacrament, became known as the “spouse of the Blessed Sacrament.” In fact, her visits were so frequent and long that when asked what she did, she replied: “Why not ask what is not done there? I love Him, I praise Him and I ask for favors. What does a poor man do in the presence of a rich man? What does a sick man do in the presence of his doctor? What does a man parched with thirst do when he comes to a clear fountain? What does a starving man do when put sitting before a well-supplied table?”

Although, the questions do not really require an answer, they teach us how we must approach Jesus: a beggar before a rich man, a patient seeking a cure, as one thirsty and hungry knowing we will have our fill.

That is the invitation extended to us today by Isaiah. To draw near to Him, to come and be filled. Come to the water, He says, come in poverty, come in want, thirsty, hungry, so that I can give you food which sustains you…I give it to you for free, I give it to you not wanting anything back, I give it to you out of love. Why then would you search elsewhere, why search for food that cannot nourish, drink that cannot quench, I am telling you what you need, listen that you may have life. I want to establish an eternal covenant with you if only you will heed me, listen to me, come to me.

That is why when Jesus, wanting to be alone to mourn His cousin, does not send them away, does not get angry and upset with them, but has compassion on them. He heals them. He feeds them. They heeded His message to come to Him, and so, even in His own pain, He gives completely of Himself; a looking forward to what is to come when He will offer His very self, the perfect sacrifice, the eternal covenant in the Holy Eucharist.

The same sacrifice that will occur on that altar in a few moments when the priest in the person of Christ will do as Jesus did, look to heaven, bless and break the bread, which will become the Body and Blood of Christ given for all so that no one here will go away hungry and thirsty.
