the_rev Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I have been praying about my vocation now for a year, and have continued to discern a few orders, the Legion of Christ, the Norbertines and the diocesean way of life. Over time I feel it is the later two and the Legion of Christ isn't in the picture any more but still open if HE calls me there. Today I went for a long walk and talked about this to God, because the Bishop has invited me for dinner at his house to discuss my vocation possibly with the dioceses, (the bishop is a personal friend,) So on my walk I thought about how the dioceses needs priests, and how I think I'd be a better asset to a dioceses. Then after that we went traveling to go shopping in a city near by. I let my mother drive because I'd rather read than drive. So I picked up first the diocesean newspaper, one story I read, "Two Local Norbertines Witness London Bombings" ok so I read it, one just happened to be my spiritual director, (Maybe former one) Then I pick up the Chronicle, (Local Paper) in the Religion Section, "Norbertines praised by community" Then I got in the mail yesterday the vision guide of orders, I open it up to what order? The Norbertines at St. Norbert Abbey in Green Bay. Finally this is just going to blow your mind! I turned on EWTN, haven't watched TV for about two days, and what priest is on their talking? A Norbertine. Do you think God might be speaking to me in a peculiar way?
let_go_let_God Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 I don't know what to say Rev, it could be a sign from God, but also mere conicidence. I would pray about these happenings and see where God leads you, maybe post an update. I think you should have put an "I don't know" catagory. God bless- LGLG
Aloysius Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 it's probably the Vatican Secret Service out there messin with your mind to fool you into the pagan idolatry of the roman priesthood... lol JK [/jack chick]
qfnol31 Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 To find the answer to that, do as the Saints did. Talk to your spiritual director or Bishop. Even when granted visions of Jesus, all the Saints went to a spiritual director and/or Bishop to discuss them.

Coincidence like luck is something better left to the pagans. yes rev I feel most definitely that God is speaking to you. What do I base this on my own life experience.
Jaime Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Eddie I think you have so much more life to live and glorious things to experience before you need to decide what your true vocation is. Being 16 is hard enough work without figuring out what you'll do for the rest of your life. You only get to be a kid once!!! God will let you know what to do with your life when the time comes!!
theculturewarrior Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts...

cathgirl Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I think that He definitely is. Don't let the devil tell you that He isn't.
jezic Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 i think it just might be that is where he wants you, but one hint, when a vocation is true, God has this annoying desire to keep popping up until one gets the picture.
philothea Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Silly at times, but definitely not the (or a) devil.

Hello Bible Matthew 16:23 ANYONE AND I DO MEAN ANYONE who attempts to distract us or take us off the path God has called us to is to be treated like Satan. God doesn't see age, age is an excuse. Oh God I'm sorry I can't follow you..I'm too old, too young, too short, too tall, too white, too black, I have children, I don't have children. GARBAGE. I am pursuing the religious life and my friends, family, and daughter all support me. WHICH IS WONDERFUL FOR THEM, I GUESS. I don't care one way or the other. it makes no difference to me. AND THEY KNOW THIS BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD. One friend JOKINGLY asked "what if I told you I didn't want you to become a nun, what would you say?" I said, "It's been nice knowing you." There is not a person on this planet who is going to stop me from following God. All I can say is Heaven is going to have to help the person that tries, because I won't.
Jaime Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Interesting point. But where can you quote me in saying "Don't follow God's call"? You can't. Scripture also teaches us there is a time for everything. Eddie has six more years minimum before he needs to make serious choices about the seminary. It isn't necessary for him to make vocation decisions right now. God doesn't see age? Near as I can figure, God sees everything. Read my post again. I believe I said, "when the time comes, God will let you know what your true vocation is". Eddie has been posting about what his true calling since I've joined. I have no doubt that God will let Eddie know what he is called for. But the truth is that he doesn't need to make a decision for many years to come.
homeschoolmom Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Quiet, satan... : Yeah, I kind of agree with sa-- I mean, hot stuff... Don't try to hard to figure it all out. You have time. You should go to college or move out of your mother's house before deciding.

Can you say with any certainty that the time is not now? Try running that past St. Therese the Little Flower. Some of our greatest saints were young. I am confused as to why you would attempt to tell another person how to live their life. I'm still not comfortable with your answer. I see too much of the world in it. I had it right the first time when Jesus said "get behind me Satan." I AM GOING TO PRAY FOR YOU... and for all the other people I have met who think that God needs them to speak for Him.
