yup, crazy huh?

the thing is tho, when you read his arguments, they are pretty convincing. i don't know how to refute them, so i just go w/ what i've always known (since it doesn't really matter) and i leave the debate to the astrophysicists

Actually, geocentrism cannot be disproven. I am putting together an explanation of it, "Geocentrism 101", if you are interested:

Welcome to Phatmass. :D:

So if I understand you correctly geocentrism and heliocentric are not right or wrong, just relative?

You can look at it that way, but ultimately I want to demonstrate that it could be the actual configuration of the universe. I am working on Part II, now.

I look forward to reading it. Although I am still skeptical. :)

I am curious as well. I hope to see some analysis of telescopic data, spectroscopic data, parallax, red shift, precession of the Earth's axis, physics of such models (especially stellar distance and motions), as well as explaining how various satellites, orbiters, and landers have been able to be sent to various locations using the prescribed notions of physics and planetary motions. I would also like to see an explanation of the lunar phases.

Also, this is incorrect.
Now let's transform to CS2, the surface of Mars. To be sure we can always see the earth. let's fix CS2 on Mar's North pole, and allow Mars to rotate on our z-axis (a rotating Mars reference frame, z-axis pointing north). In some cases, the earth will move behind us, but we can look over our shoulders at it. The earth will appear to have a bizzare motion, sometimes moving towards us, sometimes moving away. The path will be curved, often making loops. Pretty similar to watching Mars from earth.
It would not be at all like watching Mars from Earth. It would be like watching Venus or Mercury. Just, FYI.

Skepticism is a good trait.

But, please be skeptical about the alternatives, too. I.e., keep an open mind.

You are saying this because now earth becomes an inner planet. Good point.

Telescopic data and the phases of Venus were implicitly covered in Part I. Since we are using the modern Tychonic system, Venus (and Mercury) are orbiting the sun (and the sun is orbiting the earth). All relative positions of planets, asteroids, etc. are the same as the Keplerian system (in the modern Tychonian, Keplerian elliptical orbits are used). I will discuss this some more in Part II.

Only in the Ptolemaic system is there an issue with the phases of Venus, since in his model Venus orbits the earth with epicycles.

I will start a new thread to discuss it.

Mark..............i moved the discussion to the debate table. the Apologetics Board is more a place for people to ask questions about how to defend and explain catholic doctrines and to share resources that help in this regard. debate in this board is prohibited.

Sorry, I guess I needed to get a feel for whre the line between "asking questions" and "debating" is here.
