Guest Eremite Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I've been a little too heated in this thread. I apologize. I'm gonna shut up now.
Brother Adam Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Which is the contradiction in itself. We are never going to get it perfect, innocent civilians will die no matter what, unless we just sit down and die and don't try to defend ourselves. I wonder what Catholics on this board would say when the Israel army invaded Jericho? Thousands of 'innocent people' died. Entire cities were ruined. Do we have such direction today? Of course not, but the fact is either way the innocent will die. We aren't in heaven yet. So the question is, do we sit down and allow extremist Muslims to go free and murder not only their own citizens but others as well? Do we put Sadam back in control so young children can continue to be fed through shedding machines and slaughtered? Do we sit back and do things the democratic way and let them pillage American, British, and Italian soil, murdering thousands of people, lest we retaliate and even one innocent person dies? No we don't. I believe, Eremite, you are forgetting the principle of double effect.
Guest Eremite Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 One last response.
So the question is, do we sit down and allow extremist Muslims to go free and murder not only their own citizens but others as well?
Before you look to foreign lands, look to your own nation. Do we sit down and allow extremist abortionists to go free and murder not only our own citizens but others as well? Should we evacuate the US and nuke it out of existence? No. Why? Because it's our homeland. Iraquis have a homeland too. We have no right to take it from them. And I don't think the American citizens will open their borders to millions of homeless Iraquis. And your citation of Old Testament warfare is irrelevant. We do not live in the Old Testament. We do not stone people to death anymore for blasphemy, and neither do we fight wars on a mandate from God.

qfnol31 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 These terrorists are from Iraq? We're sure of that?

DannyBoy Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 All's I have to say...bring it on. I'm headed there for the New Year. Ain't Skeered!!!
Old_Joe Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I think I heard on the news yesterday that the terrorists might be homegrown.
StMichael Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Why are we not all wising up?! INTERNMENT. This is ridiculious and this country, no the ciivilized nations need to expel these peoples from their countries once and for all.
homeschoolmom Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 How about more of this: about the issue and less of this:

As you would be praying they will be plotting. They are satan's army and the last time we went through this there was a queen in spain who sent armies and chased them back allowing christianity to thrive.

homeschoolmom Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Yes, but last I knew no one who would be in any position to nuke Iraq or not was a member of phatmass. Why in the world do we need to argue about what our leadership (which ain't changing for at least a few more years) should do. Our job is to pray. If you aren't praying, you aren't doing your job.
Brother Adam Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Remember that we are not Protestants, nor are we pacificists. We believe the body (physical) is sacred and created by God, we believe it to be good, so there is justification there in protecting life from harm. And as we are not pacifists while a Hail Mary will spiritually do more good than an army, a Hail Mary likely will not stop bullets from killing those you love.

musturde Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005
beaver dam terrorists. Nuke Iraq.
lol First off Iraq has some Christians in it. Maybe a more correct wording would be. "Bomb the terrorists".
musturde Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005
Bombing them isn't that great of a choice...
I'm not saying it's possible to bomb terrorists without killing other people. I'm just saying that'd be a happy go luckier way of expressing anger. Against terrorists, not against a whole area of people.
