I used to work at Circulation! I loved it!!

Although the people that would come up and complain because they owed 10 cents in fines would bother me at times. Just give me the dime and be on your way....it's not my fault that you returned the book a day late :idontknow:

I wouldn't say I hated them but.......there were a few that when they'd come through the door, we at circulation would see who could run to the back room fastest. If you made it last....you had to go back out to the desk and wait on them. Sigh. I was always the slowest one and most times had to go out.

I miss working in the library. :(

Right now, I'm going to school studying library science. I am service oriented, and last night, a lot of people left with a smile. :)

Hello fellow librarian.

I'm still stuck on what department I want to work in. I'm working the circulation desk now. I still don't know my knack, but I love helping the people with my blue hair.

How does your blue hair help people?

I would love to be a full-time librarian. To be surrounded my thousands and thousands of books every day... Heaven. Who knows, I might go for it after I get my BA.

I can't count how many times I've had to tell people to go to the refrence desk for help, for some reason ppl think if you're shelving books you're a librarian and have to stop what you're doing so you can help them. Ugh, patrons.

You're burned out. :(

So was I until I got sick. That was like a vacation for me. You should try getting sick. :P:

I loved working in a local branch library for 3 years. It was the best job I ever had. I was the childrens page, but it was great. I would also help at circulation, I could help people find the materials they were looking for, I set up for events and had a lot of fun with the local kids that came in. My co-workers and supervisors were the best, kindest people in the whole wide world. Man I miss that job!

ooohh and I got so mad when one of the patrons walked up to our librarian Pat and told her that he wished he had her job so he could sit around all day and do absolutely nothing and get paid for it. They just have no clue do they?

Nope they don't. It's not as easy as it looks sometimes. What always got me was when high school kids (or parents) would come in and expect the reference librarian to do ALLLLLLL the research for them. I mean come on. They're there to HELP and lead you to the right stuff, but sometime you have to take responsibility and do SOME of your work.

The patrons will usually come up and comment on my hair and of course the kids would like it too.

I don't dye my hair. I just braid the hair in with mine and just watch the patrons come by like, whoa. YOur hair is blue man.

Yeah........I'm cool. :smokey:
