Aloysius Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 everyone with any lick of orthodox Catholic sense understands the evils of the "modern" "post-modern" and "post-post-modern" age. so I say we chalk the "modern" age up to history... we need to come up with a new era... any suggestions for a name? "ancient", "classical", "medieval", "renaisance", "victorian", "modern", "post-modern", and "post-post-modern" are all already taken... so anyone got any suggestions for a name? Something with the zing of the renaisance's name "rebirth" and the pow of the name "enlightenmnet" but still modest like "medieval"... sugestions anyone?
Guest Eremite Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 "Proto-Christian", not to be confused with "Pre-Christian". The Proto-Christian generation is the generation that lays the groundwork for a new age of faith Also known as the John Paul II generation.
Didacus Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 The renewal age. An age where the culture of death was defeated and the people of the church rejoiced in a renewal within the life of the church.
Apathy Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 The Era of Apathy? Grandpa Wisdom always said that I was quite rampant everywhere the culture of death established itself. He said pretty often that if it wheren't for me and my twin brother Sloth, that cultural would never have taken off the ground. Well, I think he said that, or something like that. I never really listen to that old fluffy air extraction anyways.

Aloysius Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 I Like "Restoration" best so far. Springtime is in second place in my mind. except I think we need to jazz it up or something... like "rebirth is to renaissance as restoration is to __________" although that's like... just randomly translating it into french or something which isn't at all what we should do.... it just feels like it needs jazzed up
CanCath Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Restoration in French = Restoration Renaissance in French = Renaissance. I don't get what you mean...
Aloysius Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 renaissance is a jazzy way of saying "rebirth" so is there a jazzy way of saying "restoration" or are we just gonna leave it at that?
Aloysius Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 lol... renewel isn't ajazzy form of restoration! you're missing the point if there ever was one. lol restoration, like rebirth, like renewel, is just your average ho-humm word. but Renaissance is distinct, only used to talk about that age. ah well. restoration will do. though more suggestions are still welcome :
toledo_jesus Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 maybe in 100 years or so...not now. I say the next age will be the age of figuring out that this modern garbage doesn't really work. Followed by the age of stubbornly insisting that they are right, which leads to the age of hitting the wall. Then comes the whole renewal thing. It's gonna get worse before it gets better. but it will get better...
Ash Wednesday Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 The Age of Polarization. Either I'm just noticing it more as I get older -- or else the world really is getting more polarized.
