How many hours a day do your kids spend with school? I always wondered that about homeschool families.

Well, we started at 8 and we are almost done. Bible, grammar, penmanship, phonics, reading and history down.... Math and music to go...

(First day is always easy. The toddler is going to be my biggest downfall...)

Wow, y'all make really good time! I would have loved to have been homeschooled when I was little!

Well, it is only the first day... I expect to spend about four hours on school each day this year. Last year was three, but I have two students this year... plus a toddler to entertain...

but my lil bro and sis are gonna be homeschooled so they start like next week i think

Um.... congratulations on your first day of the new school year being over? It sounds like you have a good system, actually, if/when we homeschool I think I'd like to arrange it sort of like that.

Well, day two. Decided to drop music for now... My computer music program isn't working with our new computer and I think I will just sign them up for a class. Everything else seems to be going well....

We have Music Ace which is a really fun beginning music computer program... But it keeps freezing up...

My daughter also wants to get better at the recorder and I told her we would keep with that. She wants to take clarinet next year... but I would like her to get better at the recorder first. In addition to our soprano recorders, we have an alto which is really pretty sounding. There's a book of Catholic recorder duets that I would like to get for us. We'll see...

yay for music education! recorders are soooo much fun. most music teachers hate them cuz a class full of little guys on recorders is hard on the ears. Nonetheless, I'm soooooo excited to start recorders with my third graders this year.

clarinet is a great instrument. i play it and teach some beginning lessons to local 4th graders.
