gonzaga Posted August 5, 2005 Author Posted August 5, 2005 thanks for your help Carrie. Basically everyone, I'm thinking about moving to New York for 6 months or more, granting how the visa application goes. So I need some information on jobs, housing etc. Which Carrie has been great! craigslist etc. But if anyone else has information or tips, whatever, please don't hesitate to tell me! Thanks
Jaime Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Did anyone mention that the Yankees smell of elderberries? That's really impor'ant to know
Carrie Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 No problem... I use craiglist for alot of stuff. Also sublet.com for roommates is good. I'm going to ask around and find out if anyone else I know has any good sites that you can use. If you'd prefer real estate agents, I can always gather some cards for you and mail them if you like.

YANKEES smell of elderberries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carrie Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Yes, don't let bandwagon fans tell you that they're all that. They smell of elderberries!! What part of upstate are you looking at? Mind you, those of us from the city consider Westchester to be "upstate" and its only about an hour away. : We're silly.

Its still "home" in my mind most of the time, I love it... except for the lake effect snow. Brrrrr. Carrie is right, those from NYC consider basically "anything off the island" (those are the words of a guy I knew who was from NYC) to be upstate. lol They call Binghamton--which lies on the NY-PA border--"upstate"! That cracks me up.
IcePrincessKRS Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 lol Rochester is still "downstate" from where I grew up.

Hmmm, even the Bronx is a little up there for me..but you know, they TECHNICALLY are a part of the city... Rochester is WAY upstate. Katie, sounds like you were close to Niagra, huh? Thank goodness for MetroNorth or i'd never venture "upstate."

What's FCR?? The last time I stepped foot in the Bronx was YEARS ago.
