IcePrincessKRS Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005
OMG, that is SO true! Rochester is WAY upstate. Katie, sounds like you were close to Niagra, huh?
Oh gosh, Carrie, FURTHER North than that! haha Niagra is like, Southwest of where I grew up.

Anastasia13 Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 I really want to go to New York, at least for a short visit once in my life.

If you stop to stare at a building, don't stand smack dab in the middle of the sidewalk! : Other than that, we love tourists! (I could always give you a list of things that are cool to do here if you ever decide to visit).
BullnaChinaShop Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 I've visted NYC twice and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I used to have family that lived in Morristown, NJ and when visiting them we could ride the train into the city, I've also been to Albany and Buffalo.

Love to hear people liked it here!! Anything you liked in particular?
I've also been to Albany and Buffalo.
way WAY upstate. Brooklynites don't go that far north. Like I said, the Bronx is pushing it!

The scale of NYC is amazing it's not like any other place I've ever been. I saw a couple of plays and went to the Metroploitan Museum of Fine Art, and did a few other things. We didn't spend a whole lot of time in NYC. I'd like to go back sometime now that I'm older and I'd have more control over where I wen and what I saw. I must say that going to the top of the Statue of Liberty is not that much fun. I thought the top of the pedastal was a better place to see from. Ellis Island is pretty neat though.
BullnaChinaShop Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Oh and my trips to Albany and Buffalo were both for work. I didn't get to see very much of either place. I must admit that Albany is sure better than FL in July. But I won't be in a hurry to spend another week in Bufalo during Jan. At least I got to see a hockey game on that trip.
IcePrincessKRS Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 haha Yeah, Buffalo gets MAJOR lake effect snow!

I think they said they were haveing a warm snap while I was there. The highs were right about freezing almost all week. That was until the last night I was there when a cold front came in and the wind was howling in off the lake. I was stuck gassing up my rental car at 5 AM at a gas station that didn't have the catches on the pump so I had to hold it the handle the whole time. That wouldn't have been a problem if my glove wasn't so bulky that I had to take it off to keep the pump on.

If you want to see a great view, you have to go to the observation deck in the Empire State Building!

Alot of places don't have the pump-lock-tab up there (which is crazy, you'd think it would be the one place that you'd desperately WANT it to be!).
