Thank you all for your responses thus far. The most important comment I have read so far is to talk to the people that have been to Iraq for a more accurate description of how things are. I have been in Iraq now for almost a year. I have family that was here before that. In just the year I have been here I have seen tremendous improvement in the lives of the Iraqi's, however, there is a long way to go yet.

I look forward to being able to sit down and talk with my family about my time here and discuss the differences between my time here and earlier.

I can tell you that the majority of Iraqi's hate the insurgents almost as much as we do. Besides, the insurgents are predominately foreign nationals that hate America and all we stand for.

The Iraqi police and military have made great strides toward securing their nation. That is why we are still here, to make sure the Iraqi's can handle their own security in order to have a legitimate, functioning government.

Please pray for all the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen, from around the world that are fighting to make Iraq a better place.

If the media would show our progress in Iraq, people would think more postitively over the current sutuation. The War went smoothly. capturing Saddam Hussian was achieved later that year, finding WMD is still, unachieved, and presumed hidden, or sold.

The Media needs to show us rebuilding the Iraqi Economy from the scraps of Saddams regime. Show us helping people out, by rebuilding their homes and such.

Have you seen the documentary "Control Room", about the arab news station "Al Jazeera"?

It gives some interesting insight into the world of difference in perception between our media and theirs.

Arabs live every day with the reality of war, in the flesh and in the media. Americans, unfortunately, are shielded from this. The American media is clearly American. It is not an objective vehicle for news. (Neither is the arab media, of course).

There is an American soldier in the documentary who goes through an interesting process of looking at things through the eyes of an arab, rather than through western eyes.

One thing I have become more conscious of is reading about soldiers who die. How often do we just pass over the stories? It's just another faceless soldier. But, the least we can do is recognize what has happened, and who it has happened to.
