zwergel88 Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005
i'm kinda glad. all those crowds would make me have a panic attack.
I think that was kind of how I felt too.
Philo Koinonia Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 yeah I wish I was there too, I have tons of friends that are going and one of them is 11 years old...
IcePrincessKRS Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005
I'm 15, and sometimes feel the same way. However, I would have went in a heartbeat. You gotta cut those apron strings sometime.
But you don't have to cut them before they need to be. I'm actually kind of glad I wasn't able to go. I would love to see the Pope in person, but I think WYD just isn't for me.
Ash Wednesday Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005
This will probably sound horrible, but I actually chose not to go, I had booked the trip but then canceled for a lot of reasons. Mostly I just didn't feel comfortable going to far away from home without my parents. I have never left home for very long, and I don't do very well on my own. (I'm only 16, so I'm trying to not to be too hard on myself for being afraid.) Also, I'm afraid of airplanes, I just don't understand how they stay up.
I don't think that sounds horrible at all. If you weren't comfortable going at this point in time, so be it. You might have been miserable. We all venture out in the world sometime, but it usually only happens when we're ready. You're young and have plenty of time.

Juventutem could have gotten me there for about $1500 or less, as of about a month ago if I wished to do so.

p-hawk Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 heh, I would have tried to go if I had the money, the energy, and wasn't on a medication that had to be refrigerated all the time.
RC_ Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Just out of curiosity, what do you take? I had to take antibiotics that had to be kept in the fridge a couple of times...other than that, just a massive amount of pills, and albuterol through a nebulizer.
franciscanheart Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 i really wanted to go but i think my expectations would have been too high. im not saying that anything about papa ben could let us down or wyd but given the circumstances surrounding wyd 2002 i prolly wouldnt have let myself have a very good time. however the next wyd i will be at if i have to cut off my leg and sell it.
